Misses when cold
My 89 LX Carb runs rough only when the engine is cold. Once it warms up it's fine (in fact I just got back from a PASSED emissions test)
Even when it's cold it runs better when the throttle is open more than a tiny bit. Actually at full throttle it pretty much seems OK even when first started.
This makes me think it's carb related (?) but I'm not sure where to look, because despite reading this site, carbs are pretty much a mystery to me.
What specifically changes once the engine gets warm?
thanks

Re: Misses when cold
I should probably add that it smells like gas when it's warming up, so I guess it's either running too rich or just missing and spitting gas out the tailpipe

Re: Misses when cold
check you float level... check the choke... and the coolant level.
There is a EFE plate that is supposed to heat fuel when the engine is cold... there is a service manual link to download pages that will help you test parts and such.
