ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits
ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits, this is a system that heats your washer fluid,it melts the snow right off your windshield, and it clears bugs and crap off in the summer with hot washer fluid,I thought it was pretty neat. http://www.frostfighter.com/ff_pdt_2500.htm

Re: ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits
My 535i has heated sprayers for the windshield. They activate below a certain temperature. The door locks are also heated if the door handle is held up for a few seconds. BTW, I got a repair kit for the defroster at PepBoys. Its made by permatex. Fixed every break in my lines and they work great now. HTH
Re: ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits
why would your door locks be heated

They are heated because at very low temperatures they will freeze. Unlocking a car with frozen locks is near impossible so they are heated before you use the key. The feature is only activated if you actually hold the handle up for a certain period of time.

Re: ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits
Cool! Why is this in 1geez? Can I be a mod now? :)
Re: ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits
I'm not sure how I posted it under 1 geez, I know I had put a response to an old post about defroster grid repair under there,it had seemed like useful info, since thats always an ongoing problem. I guess I was just under 1geez at the time.
Re: ran across this while looking for defroster repair kits
haha some of my accord keys are slightly "twisted" from trying to force frozen locks open...now i just carry my pocket WD40 with me during the winter months (it's cheaper than those actual lock de-icers and it's the same thing).

I've always used hot water on my windshield in the mornings. Never had a problem. Even the rock chips in my windshield don't grow into big spider webs. In fact, there's a Buick that comes with this system installed in it. They probably did some amount of testing on the system...
