I know someone know out there... so I wont ask if someone does.

A20A3 2.0 12V SOHC PGM-FI 1955 110hp@5500rpm 114tq@4500rpm '87 Accord LX-i (USA)
A20A4 2.0 12V SOHC PGM-FI 1955 120hp@5500rpm 122tq@4000rpm '88-'89 Accord LX-i (USA)
this is from http://members.aol.com/sean879/hondaengines.html
there was also a B20A1 in japan which had 160 hp and 140 lf-ft of torque, it was available in japan.
hey thanks... turns out I've got the shittiest of them all..guess I'll have to get started!
So there was never a DOHC 16v until the b series? that sucks. tgffi (thank god for fuel injection)..... and the vtec system... we can't forget that sacred system...
Actually the A20A4 were in the asian market not in the USDM and the A20A3 were in the 87-89 USDM. The 88-89 models got an increase in comp. from the 87 model of 8.8:1 to 9.3:1 in the 88-89 models and a few other things like the dual stage intake manifold plus the exhaust manifold was a 4-2-1 design. Also the 88-89 models produced 120hp @ 5800 rpm.
dude i got a 87 and a A20A4 n they're from an 88 ?.. how does that work out :/
This is a cool thread...there's no way my carbed dx only has 109 :(
ok so the a20a3 didnt happen until 87??
jeez i wonder how i got fuel injection in my car???!!!??!
Ya know I used to worry about autopart site's that wanted me to plug in my engine code to look up parts. Was I putting in the right engine code? In the end I don't care. If you've got a carbed car you got 98hp, injected 86-87 110hp, injected 88-89 120-122hp, codes smodes:D :tongue:Quote:

Bobafett: the 86 Lxi engine is the BT engine (Carbed is BS). That's what they were called before the A20.
Alex
... but they're the same engine. '86 & '87 LX-i engines are the same, just called different names. Same for '86 & '87 carbed engines, I believe. I would defer to Carotman (he is Canadian) on this one.
Shifty, you're in Australia, so these rules do not apply. Chances are, you could get your hands on a B20A and have some real fun. Or, just ship it stateside and I'm sure someone would take it off your hands...
grr. i feel cheated. i dont even have an a20a3!!! :)
maybe when i do a rebuild i will make sure the donor engine is an 88-89! :)
What about an 86 EXi PGM-FI? Does anyone know what the specs for that car is? I only ask because that's what I have. Sorry if someone answered that already.
Thanks
It's the same as the 87.... 110 hp and 114 ft. lbs torque, 8.8:1 compression ratioQuote:

awesome...i want a B20A3 now....160 hp..in a 3g....mmmmmmmmmm *drool*
does anyone know how i could get one, and how much it might cost???
thanks
I bet you could get it close to 200hp with intake, headers, exhaust, and a cam regrind... now 200hp in a 3g... :D thats all together bad ass.Quote:

 what would we without newbies :D J/K!
I was one way back in the day......:flash:
what makes the a3 and a4 so different that there is a 10 hp difference?
what ever 87AccordsterLx there is no way headers intake and cam grind will give you 40 hp. maybe 10 if you had it at dyno and tune it. easy 40 horses is turbo and cheap also
Look a little more closely. The A20A3 is the 2.0 FI engine in the USDM Accords (LX-i & SE-i). '86 & '87's had 110HP and 88/89's have 120HP, due to a dual stage intake manifold, a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, and something else that I can't remember.
Intake, Headers, Exhaust, Cam, Throttlebody, Ignition, and Flywheel:Quote:

That's about 160hp at the flywheel.
its not 40 hp that is only about 20, 25 horse power. i dont really care what ho you have at the fly wheel cause you will never see that hp.
