Could the Canadian members provide references for reputable used Canadian parts dealer who might have manual steering racks and be willing to ship it to Texas?
Thanks.

Just to share with ya, I tried ordering parts from Canadian parts places. Every single one I spoke with wouldn't do it. They don't like taking credit cards over the phone from other countries and shipping to where they can't take any sort of legal recourse... If you find a place that will though, I'd love to hear about it.
john....i think its time for a canadian roadtrip.
Yeah buddy! I've made a few of those. I still need the head from a Canadian car. Maybe if bushbean can't get one, I can pick one up for him next time I go up. I think that I need a passport now to get back into the US, which is kinda crap.

Thanks! Just let me know whenever you think you can get your hands on one. I don't need one right away; the ps rack and pump are just starting to leak slightly, so it can probably last a long time before they got kaput.Quote:

Do you think the Canadians would be willing to ship if I pay 'em with US Postal Service Money Order before they ship? I can't see any risk for 'em in that. And, I can't see why a good business person would refuse a sale.
cuz shipping cost more than the actual part
you don't need passport untill the end of this year if you are traveling in a car.Quote:

Hmm... I had told some other members I would try and get them manual racks, and with winter, I honestly haven't been very motivated to do any car work, but I will be at the parts store sometime this week and will see what I can find out./

i could wonder down to the local part source
aww dam did not notice the age of this thread
the very rare striped down version of the DX i've seen them at the recors... rare... but i've seen them
go to part source they might be able to help yea...
yea we need to bring this thread back for sure, and does anyone remember exactly what you need to swap the rack to manual? doesn't the rear beam have to be swapped?
who ever needs anything looked up ill take a peak.
i would like a manual rack
my 84 has a manual rack
The problem with the manual rack is that the cross member that holtd the rack is different from the power steering one.
The bushings are also discontinued from the dealer. I tried to order some for 88lxi68 and the deaker told me they're not available anymore.
I CAN get reman racks at Napa here tough. There must be a way to make them fit.
