not bad find.
i may have to keep that is fav.
Do we need anything like a crossmember to make it fit?
As far as I know its bolt on.
i have heard that you need a crossmember too. :( but another scary thing is that the manual steering racks always show up in auto store computers, with the same part number as the power assisted one. :( so the conclusion is that nobody can actually get a manual rack anymore. :(
hopefully this is legit and they really have them though.
man that sure looks like a real manual rack judging by the rest of the stuff on that page!
yup thats what i heard...that you need the crossmember. some one call them up and see if they have it in stock
The racks are VERY different and so are the cross-members. You can probably make brackets to make it work on the power cross-member. I will get pics up of both racks and crossmembers to show the differences.
The foto next to it shows it's just another Power Steering Rack.Quote:

i believe its the part that runs left to right and the steering rack bolts up to itQuote:

My hatchie has manual steering, I'd love to switch it (back?) to PS... assuming I can get ahold of the parts (coulda taken them off Zack's if I'd had the time and inclination), how complex a job is it?
If your swapping on two cars its porbally an all day thing, assumeing you have all the bits and peices.Quote:

Heheh, let me get the new rear-end in first and see how that goes :) Taking the back suspension our of ZackieDarko's parts car was a snap - dozen or so bolts and the whole thing came out as a single unit, trailing arms, control arms, struts and all. Hoping the weather is dry tomorrow to swap them into my car.
Damn, you got an EFI hatchie too? I'm jealous...
I would be willing to buy your manual rack and crossmember if the price is right.

If I ever scrap the car though, I'll keep you in mind.
I swap power steering rack second hand from Japan.
