Has anyone replaced a clutch cable

Has anyone replaced a clutch cable, and how hard is it to do???

i have, its not hard

20 min job if youre slow

i heard you can get a 90-93 teg cable in...that does not go across the engine bay....its more cleaner looking. as it goes behind the valve cover.

quick question, how the f*** do I disconnect the cable from the pedal??????

You have to unhook the clutch cable from the pedal itself...inside the car and underneath the steering column you'll see the clutch pedal and the cable hooked onto it. Unlatch it and simply pull it from inside the engine bay. Good luck.

lol yeah its a bit of a bitch job but its easy enough. try swapping a pedalbox with the dash in. its a little bit harder, but still easy. oh and your clutch cables are longer so A18A you dont count

I unhooked it from the tranny, and yeah I brought a brand new one today from autozone. i see that the latch is like rectangle shaped, so Im gonna have to get a flashlight, cuz I cant see behind the pedal at all. I do see the hole through the firewall where the clutch cable goes through.

ok I got the cable hooked up, it works or should I say worked? When I tested it foward and reverse, as I let off the clutch the car shakes badly and makes massive noise. I mean it did engage, so that means my clutch and tranny cant be bad, clutch is a stage 1 and like 6 months old and no hard driving. Before I replaced the cable i was coming to a stop with my foot on the clutch and the car in 1st, then i felt a jerk and as my foot was still on the clutch it was not engaged, I almost wrecked because of this. My only other thought is tranny fluid, which Im pretty sure it needs, because i cannot recall the last time I put it in. Actually it would really help if someone could tell me where the tranny fluid goes. Thanks alot guys.

also, after I was done installing the cable i could smell tranny or clutch. ??????????

try adjusting the cable maybe?

Sounds like a bad case of clutch shudder. When the clutch was replaced did you have the flywheel machined flat? My clutch has a mild case of this as the shop was too lazy to have the flywheel properly surfaced. It keeps me using a light foot on the clutch instead of burning it up as a torque converter!

Sounds like you need to adjust the clutch cable.

No I havent had it since the clutch was replaced, just started with the new cable. i was thinking maybe tranny fluid, but I do not have a clue where it goes.

However before I replaced the cable on take off's id here a squeak, but Im thinking its my front suspension. So should i try adjusting the cable some more?
