Looks Great!
Can't Wait to see it fitted :D
Re: new coolant overflow tank i put it here to give others ideas.
Nice... So how much does your car weigh now? lol
Re: new coolant overflow tank i put it here to give others ideas.
it's pretty light thats chromaloy and aluminum parts
probably weighs less then the stock plastic one actually. usually when i put in something new i'm taking something factory out, like the washer tank, i'm taking a huge factory tank out and washer motors, and replacing it with a lightweight tank that holds just enough fluid for what i need. the extra gallon of fluid i don't need ,weighs more then the entire new tank and plumbing put together, ever pick up a gallon of washer fluid? and when i get the oversized battery out,and the odyssey one in,that alone will more then make up for the weight of the oil cooler, plumbing ,and blower. the odyssey alone weighs 20 pounds less.
Re: new coolant overflow tank i put it here to give others ideas.
looks good man, glad to see your getting to this project, this same thing will be on my to-do list once i get my car. do you by chance have the exact weight of the old and the new tank?
Re: new coolant overflow tank i put it here to give others ideas.
i was about to say that thing looks heavy.
Re: new coolant overflow tank i put it here to give others ideas.

Looks pretty heavy duty. Does it still hold as much coolant as the factory jug?

i think, it holds over a quart so it should work fine, the can is only 1/8 thick aluminum so it holds more then it looks
Re: new coolant overflow tank i put it here to give others ideas.
That looks like a nice tank. Now that all of our tanks have some serious age on them and are in what I consider to be a poor position, I think a tank like yours is a good idea. Having the coolant cap there is also a good idea, I feel.

the tank is vented, they are a siphon type tank, so it has to be vented to siphon right, the coolant cap is still on the radiator where it's supposed to be, thats just the cap for the tank, I had a bunch of extra cap rings made up already,so I used one of them, somewhere on here is an entire thread about this tank, but I can't seem to find it. I had made a thread about the old steel tank, then I ended up making one out of aluminum.

A level indicator would nice. The problem is that we need something that will indicate with a quick glance what is happening to the coolant level, before the idle starts hunting.

I don't have any of that stuff, so I don't worry about it lol, I can just undo the cap and look. On the factory tank you could just add a right angle fitting at the top and bottom with a clear tube in between, this will indicate the coolant level in the bottle. the factory one isn't pressurized either, but is also a siphon.
