Brakes feel loose

I feel that sometimes when I brake hard, the front brakes would make a one time noise like the screws are loose os something. But when I checked my brakes calipers rotors wheel nuts etc, nothing is loose. Do I likely have a worn ball joint?

Also, the brake pedal has pulsation feedback when I brake hard and I know the disc rotors need to be turned. However, I can't find anyplace in this town (Charlotte, NC) that will do it. When I was in Tampa FL, it was pretty common ($5 a piece). So, my next solution would be buy new rotors. Anyone has experience with any generic rotors from AutoZone, PepBoys, Advanced autoparts etc...????

Charlotte is a big place. I'm sure there is thousands of places that turn rotors.Just find a machine shop or just go somewhere that does brakes,if they don't do it,they have someone who does theres.

sometimes turning can't be done if they are not thick enough ! just don't get Honda rotors ! they don't last ! :(

Well. Just check a few web sites out of curioristy - AutoZone, PartsAmerica and Napa.

AutoZone $16.99 with 3 mns warranty
PartsAmerica $18.99 with 1 year warranty
Napa $16.99 with 1 yr warranty.

Looks like Napa has the best deal. Maybe it doesn't worth the hassle to get them turn???

i have heard about cross drilled ! but they are much expensive ! but last looooooooong ! :)

Mine have 200,000 miles on them and they are still within tolerance. How much longer than that can you expect?

yeah, jsut foget about resurfacing ur rotors. Get new ones. cross drilled rotors from nopi.com are aroudn 25 bucks the last time i check. if u want a cleaner look, go for sloted.

Those are the options for a 86 car at nopi, no other choices.

I bought slotted and dimpled (partially drilled) brembo's for $100 for my 86LXI from www.raceconcepts.com (not sure about link) and EBC pads from www.tirerack.com Awsome combination that withstood my kind of torture tests:D

I guess I'm just going to buy generic rotors. Don't have the budget for cross-drill type. And my rims are stock so nobody will see if the disc is drilled from outside. I keep a distance and don't brake hard often so I think generic disc will do it.

ACCORD EX, I drive mine pretty hard and do a lot of in-town driving. I got 120,000 miles out of a set of Raybestos Pro-Stop pads and I am still on the original rotors. I change my pads before they are totally gone so I have never resurfaced the rotors. I also change out the brake fluid every 30K miles so I have never had to rebuild calipers or rear wheel cylinders.

Maybe I am not as hard on my brakes as some here, but I am not that nice to them, either.

Now, I really like the four wheel disc ABS brakes on our 99 Oasis (same thing as 98 Odyssey). This setup was lifted right from the 97 Accord (like most of the old Odyssey mechanicals). I wish I had the 2.3 liter V-Tech engine in my car, too. It makes the 3,600 pound van quicker than my 89 LXi so imagine what it could do in my 2,800 pound car!
