HeLp?!? High Idle and no idea whats wrong
:help:I have a 1988 Honda Accord DX Hatchback i bought it with this problem. ive had various people look at it, but im still not sure whats wrong...
the problem is that as soon as you start it, it goes straight to 2000 RPM.. and idles there.. it never drops below 2000.
also, any pointers on cv joint replacement on this vehicle?
anything would be greatly appreciated thanks
Re: HeLp?!? High Idle and no idea whats wrong
I've been talking to someone else about this in another thread. I've been trying to get a hold of someone who bought my sister's LX-i with the same problem. I want to see if he got to fixing it or not.

Hey Welcome!
If it just happened out of nowhere then its probably a vacuum leak somewhere in a hose. Just check for a broken, brittle, or disconnected hose. Good luck

Re: HeLp?!? High Idle and no idea whats wrong
My suggestions:
Check timing with a light.
Go here:http://www.pauldesign.ru/honda/shopmanual.html and read pages 11-29 through 11-31 and make sure your fast idle unloader is working correctly.
If these two things check out ok then use the idle adjustment screw ( large black thumbscrew on passenger side rear of carb) to bring the idle down.
My guess is that at some point it developed a vacuum leak that made it idle poorly and someone turned the idle up to over come it.
Welcome and good luck!

I don't know where the thread is, but search through my posts; you should find it. It's pretty recent.
