lean idle and part throttle
The symptoms:
1 car will not idle
2 under throttle the car missies intermittently, as though it may be a lean serge
3 no identifiable vacuum leaks
4 gas level in float bole is good
5 has carburetor
Car history:
244,631 miles
doesn’t use any oil
oil and filter changed approximately every 3000
up until this morning it ran fairly smooth
no leaks, oil or otherwise
The plea for help:
this car is my daily driver and I love it like my wife it is a very good car but a bit to complicated compared to my 72 Peterbilt and 78 Ford f-250 :banghead:, smart carburetion and computer, so ill take any and all help available, thanks. If you need any more info just let me know

Re: lean idle and part throttle
Seafoam or BG 44k fuel system cleaner in the tank, gummout carb spray in the top of the choke and venturi area
Check the coolant level
A list of possibility with this thing so start with the simplest maintenance procedures first
Check vacuum advance is working on the distributor, getting vacuum? pull the hoses off while running and see if the rpm changes
Re: lean idle and part throttle
Coolant level is fine and fluid is relatively new, vacuum advance is working on #2 got massive vacuum #25 has not got vacuum as the engine is worm. Also when I close the choke flap manually it runs much better. I have checked the venturi and they are tight. I have also cleaned the carb twice with gumout. Thanks for the help

Re: lean idle and part throttle
Hey bud, welcome to the board! When is the last time you did a tune up on the car? It almost sounds like an electrical issue to me. When you say it won't idle, what does that mean exactly? Does it die, or rattle the fillings out of your teeth or what? Let us know and good luck.
Re: lean idle and part throttle
it definitly rattles out your fillings and die if no throttle iv dun tune ups regularly though i have not changd the timing belt yet I was going to in about 5000 miles (it was last dun about 45000 ago)
