If my transmission is shit (no 4th gear or reverse and sometimes grinds in park) is it possible for a transmission rebuild to fix this? I ask because the local tech school will do any and all vehicle repairs for no labour cost, just parts, to teach the students.
there is no real way to tell the extent of the wear until you pull it to bits.
it might just need clutches but it could well be up for new valves as well since these trannies have very close tolerances and a wee bit of shit in the valves can cause a bit of damage.
i'd go get a jy trans or convert to manual
I wanna do the 5spd swap very very bad. However the lack of the heated garage makes this relatively unlikely until spring. Unless its not much more work than an auto-to-auto swap.
its not a hard conversion, a bit more involved than whacking in another auto, but not much.
just mainly the flywheel and pedals, shifter.
make sure if you go the manual route that you get the drive shafts as hondas are a bit funny with diff shaft lengths and d/s intermediate supports.
