Faded bumpers?? Heat works pretty well.
While I was swapping out my front end, I was playing around with my propane torch and made an increadible discovery.
When I put the torch to the plastic, and only for about 1/2 a second an inch, the faded plastic started to look a helluva lot better! I'll get pics explaining what I did tomorrow, but my rear bumper is really ugly and faded (you can see it in my sig pic), and I heated up a little section behind my tire and 3 days later and a pressure-wash/wax, it looks like after I did it the first time.
Stay tuned.

What was your initial intension putting a torch to your bumpers? lol
That's an old trick though and I think it's easier to use a heat gun, that's what I do at least.
Your bumper sure was faded good, hurry up with the pics!

You are burning off the oxidized layer, I think a good sanding, plastic primer and bumper paint would look a lot better personally. I've taken a liking to the fusion paints now, they have a semi flat that matches the bumpers perfectly. stuff seems indestructible

I was afraid of all the spiders that were under my car, so I took the torch out there and got some of the bumper, then saw that it acually made it look better!
I was mostly concerned about any paint not sticking to my bumper, so I was glad that worked. I'll get pics.

Lol. Hey, Frantik! You coming up this summer?
Re: Faded bumpers?? Heat works pretty well.
That's quite a transformation. Nice work!

Thanks. It's a temporary fix for me, cuz I got rows in the plastic from every row of flame. If you do circles, it might look better.

yeah that is a bit old school but cool to see i am not the only one. i did that on every piece of plastic interior i have back when i was building my b20 coupe. works pretty damn good as long as you dont burn it
