I have an Auto and was wondering if it was normal for the tranny to make a clanking sound when shifting from Nuetral to Drive? If not, does that sound bad? Tranny was just replaced about 8 months ago.

that clanking noise is normal cause of use. but, do check ur ATF, my sis's car does that but its a 4g. we are planning to put new ATF in there pretty soon.
I have only had this tranny for 6 months though. Clanking started about 3 months ago.
It was a rebuilt tranny, our old one was to f**ed up to rebuild.
check ur gearbox/throttle linkages are correct and like smufguy said, check ur fluid
