Behind my gauge cluster, my electrical connections/solder points have alot of corrosion. The panel lights intermittently light up from corrosive connections. How would i get rid of this corrosion? I don't think it'd be wise to sand it, especially since one part is as thin as paper, and both of them seem covered in some kinda coating that's flaking...
I'd hit the junkyard and pick up a swapper.
prob best to find a way of replacing it all. corrosion sucks and is hard to get rid of. new cluster, wire, and a soldering gun would be the way i'd go

3gee accords are extremely rare here in the land of oblivious rednecks and the junkyards of Alabama. I've found two, in Cullman, Al. but one's on a carbed auto accord and the other on an auto prelude...i have a 5 speed...would this present much issuance, using an auto gauge cluster for a 5sp?
You can use a auto cluster on a 5 Speed car but you'll have the park light on all the time. You can not use a carb car cluster in a EFI car due to the fact that it doesn't have the VSS sensor that the ECU needs, so you'll get a check engine light.
87-89 Clusters are swapable into a '86 they just look a little different
Hatch and Coupe clusters can be used in a sedan but wont show what doors are open right unless you swap the display from the sedan cluster in.
And finally some cars have a NS Cluster and others have Nippondenso, either cluster will work in any car, but you cannot swap parts between those 2 clusters. The nippondenso cluster is great if you want to change the color of your gauges since it just uses colored bulbs to color the gauges vs the NS which uses a plastic film thats built into the cluster.

Try an old tooth brush and some tooth paste,not the gel kind.
