can somebody who has done this post a pic of their wheel really close. i'm not sure of which part is ok to paint. and draw some lines and label the parts of caliper or whatever so i can follow the how-to in the how-to section. thank you.

thanks for the help guys but i still am really not clear on exactly which parts are ok to paint. even with the how to. could somebody possibly label the parts. or is that blue part( on mikes car) the only part i can paint?
damn jerren it isnt that tough. On the rear you can paint everything. How I did mine was took a wire brush attachment on a drill, and took off all of the rust and loose metal and stuff. On the front i did the same. On the front brakes you can paint everything too, of course just paper it off and dont paint the discs on the brakes..your brakes dont work to well like that.

u don't need caliper paint..just use engine paint..
u could use engine enamel, but brake caliper paint has shit in it so brake dust and shit wont stick as easy to the caliper and get all nasty...
The best way to do it is to get the powdercoated. If you aren't going that route then any paint will work, it doesn't have to be high temp or caliper paint at all. In fact a regular paint will look better than high temp paints because those are designed to be sprayed on when the part is hot. If you spray a high temp paint when the part is cold it will run and not look even.
A caliper paint is very thick and brushes on and will smooth out the surface to make it look better. It also repels brake dust better because it is smooth. It is pretty expensive (about $60 to $100) Powdercoating probably wouldn't be much more than that and will last longer and look much better.
So to make it short - if you don't want to spend the money, just use regular old spray paint.
i see spray cans of VHT caliper paint everywhere for $30...
I wouldn't use that vht paint.(tooooo expensive)
Just get plastikote high temp paint. They have 1200 and 500 degrees. Plus they're only 5 bucks a can:D
The 1200 degree paint even holds up on rotors. I painted my rotors about 1 and 1/2 years ago and its holding up strong.
