That is kind of expensive and the compressor is crap. That doesn't include the brackets which will end up costing you another $3-500 depending where you get them. You would be better off just getting a kit from AIM or Hack Shack. That kit is also just front and back with no individual control. Give Brisland's a call and see what they offer. They have some of the best cylinders.
www.brislands.com
lol at your quote on the bottom!
thanks for the info, ill keep looking around, didient you post a pic of your girls prelue with air shocks?
I personally love the Brisland cylinders. The only thing is that they take alot of air to lift them. So they are slower than normal cylinders. And they dont get a whole lot of lift but enough to drive around.
yea thats too much for a kit at www.airbagit.com or www.aimindustries.com you can get a full one for our cars for 895 lsat i checked. im ordering mine totally custom piece by piece, i only got 3 cylinders now, but thats almost half way there when i got no car to put em in, so the mounts come last for me. lol. good luck
Jordan
the kit on airbagit is 1400 .. and that other link brought me to some weird place
i am not sure why but i dont really want air bags i want air shocks
Air shocks cant hold the weight of the car. The only way to bag it is if its custom made. What you want are air CYLINDERS.:D
exactly
To me, air bags are a generic term just like Coke is for a drink in the south. Cylinders are the only way to go in Hondas but I have heard way too many bad things about the customer service at AIM. You can find a basic front/back kit for just over $1000 if you look around.
hey
my bad on the link, i got mine for $79 a piece plus shipping from www.truckin.com under air ride, thats the site, i think they $89 a piece on that site, but 79 in the mag. They had kits for 895 on the fone they told me, but only 3/8 settings, i also bought 2 off ebay, they got whole kits used and new on there all the time
Jordan
there is a f150 with air bags its hot as hell but the truck is ugly is colored in primer and its all riced out but it still looks hot
is there ay company out there that sell complete kits with air shocks for our cars? when i say complete i mean woth brackets and everyting so i can just bolt right up myself
Yes,
You can get a complete kit with everything from www.aimind.com (What TK89acc has) or from www.excentrixauto.com (what I have). There are a lot of other places too that I'm not sure of but check with www.brislands.com first. (They have better cylinders.)
pearl, what do you think of you kit, i live in the city but wont be doing alot of driving on the accord, will it be worth it buying your kit? i am also considering getting a kit for this 99 acura tl i might get, would you get the same kit for the tl too?
i just checked those sites and i think i mght go with the brishlands kit, hopefully when i get all the money together i can speak to the people and order everything i need so i can hook it up , i tyhink i am gonna do the cl first
The car will not handle well with air cylinders. It doesn't ride terrible but not good either.
The main problem I am having right now with my kit is that they are parker valves and they are letting some air through when I hit big bumps on the freeway so the car will sink a little bit once in a while. Spool (block) valves that come with the kit from AIM seal better but aren't as fast when lifting the car. I would honestly prefer the reliability of a block valve and they are almost as fast. I would also recommend getting a four way system even if you don't want to use side to side or three wheel.
The main problem that almost everyone has is that stuff gets left out of the kit or they send the wrong parts. 6 out of 7 people that I know with air on cars has had some hassle getting the right parts.
Give Brislands a call and see if they can make a complete bolt in kit for you. They use steel cylinders and are very good quality. Next time I see them I am going to talk to them for a while to find out exactly what they can do for me.
When I put air in my wagon I will custom make a kit. I will probably use air lift's air sleeves so I have a built in strut (Tokico), with a set of four block valves so I have independent control even though I only want front and back.
Whatever kit you get, make sure it has at least a 5 gallon air tank and upgrade the compressor as much as you can afford.
i am talking about the f/b/s/s kit for $1498, pearl, do you know if it includes all brackets needed, switches and what kind of warrnety?
so in ride quility which do you think performs better, bags or cylinders?
$1500 sounds good for a f/b/s/s kit and it should come with everything you need. Of course you will find that you will need to head to the hardware store for a few things like brackets and zip ties and other little installation things depending on how you want to mount stuff. Just ask to make sure that it comes with everything. If you order it for a specific car then you shouldn't have any problems. Just make sure you call now and ask if they even make it for your car. I know that AIM makes it for the accord and I think that the hack shack (excentrixauto) does. And TK has front cylinders from Brislands so I am assuming they make the whole kit too. The only way to know for sure is to call.
When I got my Brislands I had to get the brackets custom built. They took the old brackets from my other cylinders and put a bigger cup b/c the shaft is much bigger on the brislands. If you are looking to build it for speed(hopping and such) then i wouldnt recomend the brislands unless you were to run nitrogen. Everyone I know with them including myself loves the ride but as I said before they dont lift as fast.
it really dosent matter about speed as log as it dosent take forever to move. say if i had the car smacked, hw long would it take to raise up, are the air shock kits loud?
For most kits it takes less than a second to go up. My front end probably takes a full second but the back end is so fast that it hops a little when it locks up. The noise depends on where you mount the compressor. It will probably be louder in your car because it is a hatchback and will most likely be inside the car with you. I know a few people that have mounted them under the hood or under the car. I would recommend that for you. The valves also make a loud psssshhh sound when you dump but a muffler gets rid of some of that and you could also mount those outside the car if you want.
a second is a fast reaction time for me, ill deffently try some muffler setup and mount the compressor in the trunk, its gonna be on my 99 tl, thats if i ever go get it
