Josh's '86 BA2 Prelude GSi
Hi Folks,
Thought I'd get a thread up for my latest purchase :) I recently bought this off a friend who didn't have the time to restore it - it's a UKDM 1986 BA2 Prelude GSi, one of only a handful left according to the DVLA records! I bought it with a mullered clutch and flexi, plus some boots need replacing to get it through MOT and there's some rust that needs attention. However, it was a £300 car and I couldn't say no to something unusual, especially as I have a CA5 Accord GSi which this goes quite nicely alongside! Anyway, here are some pics for the time being until I start typing up what's happened with this car so far (not much  )

I can't wait to get this car running, I can only imagine how much fun it's going to be from having driven my Accord!!

I am so jealous of how mint and clean that thing is and not to mention its 5 speed B20A!
Re: Josh's '86 BA2 Prelude GSi
Wow that thing is so clean. What a deal you got it for. Seriously nice!
Re: Josh's '86 BA2 Prelude GSi
The car is awesome, but those Accord rims on there are really messing with me.
Re: Josh's '86 BA2 Prelude GSi
If I had to pick any factory wheels, those would be the ones. They are directional (specific to left and right) so supposedly they have some brake cooling properties to them.
Re: Josh's '86 BA2 Prelude GSi
Cheers guys!
I think the photos do the car a few favours, she has some rough parts which need sorting - the rear window aperture has had a very poor quality repair at some point for example. For the money though I'm very happy. Just need to get it on the road now! It's been crap weather here lately so I've not really ventured outdoors to sort it. I need to sort it soon though as driving my Scirocco daily is doing my nut

The B20 was what did it for me, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise  the B20 in my Accord is wicked, so I can only imagine what a coupe fitted with it can be like to drive. As for the 5 speed, the majority of cars over here in the UK are manual so I don't always appreciate how much more fun it is  There's nothing better than thrashing through the gears on a winding country lane though ;)

Haha you love it when I change the OEM wheels on my cars don't you  They didn't look that great on the Accord and were going spare, which was lucky as I bought the Prelude without wheels... The OEM ones were pretty ugly, and my mate wanted them for his 3G Civic anyway. For anyone interested, here's the OEM Prelude GSi wheels. I'm not sure if they were on any USDM ludes?

Ugh. I'm okay with the Accord rims now.

Trying to get some work done on the car today. I've failed miserably at getting the speed sensor out, so I've removed the speedo cable instead, and will remove the ALB lines shortly (need to buy some hose friendly clamps first). Then it's just a matter of wrestling the ball joints apart, pulling the drive shafts, and I can finally get the engine out. Only problem is, it's just started raining :(
Re: Josh's '86 BA2 Prelude GSi
Turns out the other 2 hoses on the speed sensor are for the speed sensitive steering, not the ALB system, my bad!! Makes life easier though as I can just drain the PS fluid out in a bucket as I'm replacing it before the car goes back on the road :)
