Girlfriend bought an 87 LXi so, here I am!
I've been using this forum for research since she bought the car in spring 2013. But now I'd like to be a part of it. We've done quite a bit of work on the little grey "glassback" that she affectionately calls "Mister". It's an 87 LXi, automatic, 113k when she bought it, 120k now. Previous owner had it professionally repainted metallic grey from a newer accord, originally Gothic Grey. Tan/brown interior.
Repaired/replaced since purchase: hood latch never worked right and eventually had to be replaced and braced slightly forward of the radiator support to compensate for previous accident damage. New master cylinder (worst of all the repairs). New rear brake shoes, cylinders and hardware. 2 new tires. New CV axle. New inner tie rod end. Drained & filled the transmission with Honda atf, improved the harsh shift into 2nd gear.
Remaining issues: lower ball joints have play, alignment is way out, fuel injector leaking, radiator overflow has a hole in it (found a replacement yesterday at junkyard), slow leak from ps rack, muffler has a hole in it (came with a new one ready to be installed), radio ate a tape and won't give it back, p/o mounted speakers into (through) original speaker covers, p/o also installed a trans fluid cooler onto the bumper which seems unsafe to me.
Here's the only pic I've got right now. This was taken on a trip to Bearizona during the hood latch fiasco so it was tied down for safer hwy driving. Today it still doesn't look closed all the way when shut, but the cable operated latch works properly so we don't worry about it.

The tire came apart on the way home from this trip. That was a nerve racking drive! Check out the damage :eek5:

Somehow it held up for the two hour drive home!
All in all it's a great little car with plenty of life left, but damn it had so many more problems than either of us were ready for, previous owner was kind enough not to mention them to us... that's Craigslist for ya. As the owner of a 91 Civic I expected some 'old car problems' but this is ridiculous. Oh well, she loves the little guy so it's all worth it in the end.
If you guys have any questions or pictures you're interested in let me know! I'm Looking forward to being a part of the community.

Hahaha that's an old honda for ya. I just spent a handful of time trying to track down a no-start issue, only to find out that the previous owner had bypassed the clutch interlock switch, and his twisted-together wires had come undone.
I have some experience with the older civics, and they're definitely a bit easier to work on...not to say that the Accord isn't awesome as well!!

Welcome! Old cars always keep it interesting, don't they? Glad to see you're enjoying the car and keeping it up.
