lol it's actually not in oxnard or ventura.. but that place is like a 5hr+ drive for most of use bay area heads.. i know you guys are coming all the way up here but i think we'd be more sucessful in having a meet for all of cali if it was more in central cali like around SLO or Pismo Beach areaQuote:

More info on meet sites: China Beach is a "first-come, first-served" location. (Does this mean I hafta hold it from when they open up???? -- I'll call tomorrow.) If you have 50+ people, permit is req'd (don't think that's a prob w/ us!) and a permit does NOT quarantee a space (huh?!?!?) Other sites such as Baker Beach, Crissy Field (picnic table-benches near Ft. Point) are also "first-come, first-served." I also think these locs open at sunrise so if we're not starting 'til 1-2PM, and if I try to hold off the wolves who want to use the pit at 11-noon or earlier, Imma gonna hava prob! P.S. As for bringing a BBQ, I do not think it's allowed on federal property but will check tomorrow. Also, checked the online info on Golden Gate Park picnic areas and the minimum fee for anything there is $25 plus paperwork (minimum 5 work days prior to event) and "we" have to secure the site by 9AM or it's forfeited. Heck, if I have to secure it by 9AM there, what's the diff if I secure C.B. at 9AM!?! Like I said, I can play tour guide but don't get too worried yet. If anything, I may end up securing the pit and deploy my significant other on "pit-watch duty" every other hour or so 'til you all get there (but if a large group overtakes us, well...
well u live there.. what do you think is our best bet? we don't have to stick to china beach.. i just searched for beaches with bbq pits and that came up
Let me talk to the GGNRA tomorrow. We don't want to change locs if we don't hafta. Even if parking lot is full at C.B., there's a lot of street parking avail in neighborhood (it's the one place left in S.F. like that). C.B. is still a good site for a picnic -- the pit may become an issue but we don't know yet. I thought of a backup plan for C.B. which would be GGPark but if we go that route, 5 business days before our meet date to get the paperwork in + $25 fee would've been this past Friday...Next to bringing cold sandwiches would be to have somebody cook the meat first and bring it -- better than raw (beef tartar??), no? Then we can still meet at C.B. cuz you can bring blankets to sit out on the beach (fairly clean & the only beach you can swim in & take a shower after in the restroom area if you so choose to do so). I will post as soon as I get more info tomorrow AM. frantik, you chose a good location. It's just I never picnicked there so I had no idea what all the feds' fules were. I wonder if the "no fires" sign there means no bringing your own BBQ -- again, will clarify tomorrow. Btw, if any places picked in GGPark, the new City ordinance is "no smoking in any City park".
wow sf sucks. you have to pay fees freaking days in advance to bbq? thats gay. are they afraid of bombings or something?
anyway...does anybody have a bbq pit at their house or something...anybody want to volunteer their house for a meet?....shit this sucks. i dont want to drive freaking 6 hours to get there and not be able to have our meet confortably.
what about parks? i dont care if its even in the fru fru areas. i just want somewhere where i can grill damnit!.......we dont have to go to china beach at all...as long as we can all park somewhere and just chillax man...
