The biggest mistake you are making is you rush things. Take your time masking things off that are not intended to be painted and make sure the masking is done well, then prep it and paint it.

I know you are trying too,but you are wasting your time with that rattle can crap. that stuff didn't even last when I used it temporarily while doing body work. I hope you didn't just spray it over the body without even prepping it. it'll be peeling in a week. you have to scuff sand the entire car before you start spraying anything on it. the only thing rattle can i used was the duplicolr self etch primer, and thats under high build 2 k primer surfacer. the only reason mine is in primer right now is that i'm prepping for paint. you are trying, but doing it half ass only means you'll have to do it twice. it took almost an entire day to completly mask my car off,you need tape and more supplies. I used two complete rolls of 3 inch wide,a roll of 1/4 inch wide, and a half a roll of masking paper. about 30 bucks just on the proper paint supplies.
i got 3 rolls of doller tree tape for 3 bucks and only used 1 sofar :D and i am geting rid of the car so i dont want to dump alot of money in to it i am looking for a car i want to put money in toQuote:

well in some ways it looks better but the overspray and stuff isn't so good
however you've made a lot of progress on the car overall.. you're more likely to sell it now than when you were first trying to i think
i paint cars for a living and i will tell u all from experience if u put shit on your car it will come out like shit. i would say if u want it to look decent u need to buy 3m tape so the paint wont seep through. and sand the entire car in a garage away from moisture and primer the whole car in one shot with either etching primer or high build. omni has great paint. it is basically the same quality as PPG paint products and it is more affordable. if u paint is panel by panel the colors wont match and will look tacky.
I had to do my primer in three stages due to time constraints, but I used trim lines and body lines as dividing points,I used the Nappa cross fire high build primer surfacer. it's a martin seymore brand. seems to be good stuff. I still have to wet sand the entire car to get ready for the final color, which will be in several stages, the bottom of the hood, the door jambs, then the body. the crossfire is a 2k with a four to one mix ratio.Quote:

I give you credit for trying, but I wouldn't even use that dollar store paint for crafts. there are even qualities of paint in rattle cans, there are some specialty paints, like my anodized purple, that are excellent,or my duplicolr wheel paint,it's like powder coat, but the stuff from dollar general doesn't fit in those catagories. if you were going to use rattle can primer, you could have at least used something like a name brand that might have been halfway decent. duplicolor does actually make some decent paint. I had a mirror painted white for years with their automotive paints, and it never chipped or faded.
not doller tree paint i am not that stupid.. it is doller tree tape i used walmart brand primer it has held up fine so far and the car should sale easy cux there are no cars for sale out here for under $1000 unless thay have a blown head (tons of cars with blown heads in the desert) we paid $900 for a 82 accord that was part primer with a bad carb so there is a big chance that someone will buy a 88 for 700
oh and i am wet sanding all the over spary off when i am done
yeah some newspaper and masking tape help alot
why is your back bumper hanging off? it looks like you backed into something?
i think he was painting the back part around the rear bumper & it was in the way
yeah looks like he had to take the side off to sand and prime the car. at least your car is one color not like my dx
lol ur DX has primer camouflage :D
