Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
No, and no. lol.. That's actually the next thing to do. I wanted to get everything mocked up to see where the best placement for WG would be. It's pretty big, so I'm a little worried about fitment. I'm thinking about just welding 90 up top towards pass side and call it good. I'll have to take the mani off tomorrow along with turbine and go to my brothers house to weld it all up.
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
Fuck, thats a good call! Gio!
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
TURBO and NOS! How much power do expect to get out of it?
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
I'm hoping I can get to over 200 with no more then 10 lbs. I will be turning boost up to 15 on track nights/dyno days. I'll be spraying 30hp shoot if turbo doesn't spool how I'd like then have it deactive after 5lbs. Should be a fun ride :)

Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
update.. kinda.. I found my angle grinder!!!!! :D lol It was in the trunk of the daily haha!! :slap:
I'm currently at work, but I will be installing intercooler tonight, routing charge pipes, and getting manifold and turbo off.
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
Dude let me know if you need any help or need to borrow anything.
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
I lied. I didn't get anything done at all last night lol..
Ryan, I'll be donw in the garage tonight for a bit if you wanna stop by at all..

Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
Update-ish.. I'm on my way down to work on car here in a few.
I just order a Tial spring to replace the 1.7 spring that's in my ching chong wastegate. Need to order boost controller too. or might go to HomeDepot and make one :D
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
I feel this car when sorted out will make over 215-230whp on 10-12psi boost. If it doesnt, somthing is wrong with it. What injectors/fuel pump/spark plugs are you gonna run? Also, when you mount that wastegate, try to keep it as close to the turbo flange on the log mani as possible (such as on top of the mani near the turbo), because cheating to one end or the other on the log mani (near cyls 1 or 4) would hurt flow. Also I would keep the nitrous fogger as close to the throttle body as possible, but in any case, def put the bov on the intercooler side of the nitrous jet, not the throttle body side, so if you slam the throttle body shut when boosting/spraying, the flammable fuel/nitrous stays in the pipe instead of being immediatly vented to the engine compt.
but nice progress and I def love the build. Another up and coming car!
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
Thanks, man!! Still haven't managed to get into the garage last couple of days, so no real updates. I'm putting wastegate right between runners 2-3, above flange. I need to buy injectors, planning on getting some precision 1000cc. Already have 255lph walbro pump. Nitrous is about 6" from tb. I've only got 1 step colder NGKs right now. Still sticking with trying to having it running by end of this month :D
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
Got intercooler on. Mocked charge piping, need to cut here and there, and I'll be done with that. Oh! And I need to get bov flange on. Thinking about buying Alumiweld and trying that out. Anyone have any experience with that??

That alumiweld does not look real great when its done. You probably will be better off getting pre-made ones off of ebay.
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
looks bad? does it work though?

Not Alumiweld specifically but I have tried aluminum brazing (essentially soldering). It's a pain because the melting point of the filler rod is not much lower than the aluminum, so it's very easy to turn your part into a puddle. Aluminum conducts heat very quickly too so you need a huge ass torch for all but the smallest parts. Next time I need some aluminum work done I'll take it to a weldor.
That being said, it can work if you can get the technique down.

Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
I guess I can try it on an old intake tube.. its only like 12 bucks. Worth a shot!
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
Re: gfrg88's Prelude build..
btw, alumiweld is awesome!! Tried it out on valve cover in between grooves. grinded away, and surprisingly it was a bit stronger than the actual valve cover!!
