i used to own an 88 with an automatic. runnin from the shepherdstown city police one night . on my way home from the bar and had a carload of people. i had it up to 125 before. and thats with a carload of people.my new one though i think the spedo is broke cause i was on my way back from new orleans one time and i cross the miss. state line and a new orleans cop passes me at about ...... well i dont know he was goin petty fast. i decided to catch up to him. whats he gonna do! hes way out of his jurisdiction. i ended up buryin the spedo to catch up to him. my spedo said 130 but it was bouncin back and forth between 115 and 130 :dunno:
i caught up to him and he gives me a brake check. im like wtf!! so i decide to pass him. well he kicks on the lights and i dont stop. im bookin down interstate 59 with a new orleans police officer on me. oh well about a mile later he dropped way back and bailed off the interstate. dont belive me i got a picture of me right behind him:rockon:

had it to redline in 4th, which is 120ish. It would run the gears and top out at 163 or 168(not sure when 5th would hit the rev limiter)

I've had the Se-i up to 90, not on the freeway so didn't have enough room to go higher. Have had my parents Kia Sedona mini van up to 90. Ran out of room as well. I'm a pansy when it comes to going as fast as possible. I'm always waiting for a cop to come out of no where and bust my ass and then have my parents kick me out of the house.

i was coming home from my friends house last week and this brand new civic flew by me, so i said what the hell i havent topped it out in a while...it took me a lil bit to catch him, when i did i was doin about 115 not sure if he had it to the floor but i guess so...anyway i passed him. i have an 89 lxi 2dr, wpn-r intake, dc sports header, pacesetter exhaust...the car has about 197k on it.
Accord-85 on hw 98 in Mississippi, then I saw a HW Patrol car about half a mile ahead and decided to slow down (speed limit was 55...oops).
Malibu-70 before the whole car started shaking and the steering got REAL loose. (speedo only got up to 80 anyways)
85 ? 115? man you guys need to let it loose and live a little. that aint shit i do 115 on my way to work everyday. i got pictures of me behind this new orleans parish cop doin about 115 . he was on intersate 59 in miss. if he would have tried to pull me over i would have laughed cause he was at least 150 miles out of his jurisdiction!! oh yeah did i mention my car has 180000 miles on it and the one bfore this one had 260000 miles on it and would get up and run like it was nuthin. my neighbor up the street has an 86 lx with 404000 miles on it. hes had it for 6 years and it only had 140000 miles on it when he got it. he said the only major work hes ever done to it was change the alternator last year. thats it!

It was still sitting at about 3300 RPM, and the temp gauge was still in the middle, god i love my car.

i dont know about yall but it seems to me that yall are scared to go too fast. if you ever drive the 20 or so mile stretch of 1-81 goin thru west virginia you will notice that there is a three lane section of road for about ten miles that has no cross overs at all. i do 120 to 130 on a regular basis on that stretch. im always late for work but i make up time on there. ive never been busted yet (knock on wood). its like the autobahn in a way. go as fast as you want and not get pulled over. there was one time i was goin along about 110 and it was night time and i had the scanner on and some 5-0 gets on there and says" is there any officer goin or gettin on northbound 81 at the moment?"
no response. and then he says" someone just went past me doin about 110! i got him on radar and theres no damn crossover to get him!"

Went about 103 or so around O'Hare airport. Speed limit 55...so yeah, already got a ticket for a 73 in a 35 but I had a nice ass cop. Plus lights were coming up so yeah, it takes a bit for the car to go over 100. I'll try it on the highway someday, for now it's at 103.
The fastest i have gone with a working speedo was 115 racing my friends neon. I have got it faster than that 5th gear at 5 and a half with 4 people in the car going on a skate trip.
Before I totalled my Stock 1982 Honda Accord, I could get it up to about 100-110 in 4th gear before I started to run into heavy traffic (Lots of cops and slow **ckers on the highways out here) :cool: This one time I was cruisin downtown Tacoma with my girl and I passed up this guy in a white 83 Accord, he got pissed and tried to catch me. We ended up side-by-side at a stoplight and I revved up to about 2500 and kept it there until the light changed. I was 25 yards ahead of him and in second gear by the time he crossed the intersection. Needless to say, he couldn't catch me....

1977 Nova, Was cruising a back road at 13, and floored it, (speedo topped out at 80) I looked and it said i was doin 80, then kept goin, looked down, and it said i was doin 15mph.. so it went all the way around..
THe fasted I've screamed was about 115-125 in a fuel injected Plymouth Caravelle with the pedal 3/4ths down.--it was stock with a factory turbo, used by "government motor pools," and some police. Not a bad car, until squished by a jacked up toyota pickup painted 50 shades of camoflouge (and a few spots of red).
The only thing I did to the car that could even remotely be considered a "mod" was busting off a plastic "jacket" that sat around the throttle/fuel cable (whatever that is on a FI). Very nice to drive--kinda feels like you're on a Star-wars land'speeder, and pretty roomy for a sedanish-coupe.
My 87 Accord LX isn't quite as balsy yet (though it handles better in some aspects), and I've only topped that at 88/89 mph, not wanting to #^@$ it up before I give it some new life (an a lil' bit 'o soul...).
I figure 88 mph is a good test of a car--if I can get up to "time travel speed," I can always save myself if a crash... or somethin'.
got somewhere between 105 and 110 with the 87 lx can't tell for sure because the needle was bouncing around a lot. I was still gaining speed but cars were coming up.

i've gotten my 89 lx-i up to just over 110, then it started shaking a little. if you've got a fairly clear day on Pellissippi connecting west Knoxville to alcoa highway, yeah baby. there's maybe 3-4 hills to get up along the way, but it's fun going down the other side. i actually passed a buddy of mine on the right doin 90 and he was laughing and shaking his head. it's not a normal occurence for me to do this stuff, and i'm always looking way out for cars coming up.

3g....not fast....but, I have had it up to 125 mph......down a hill. About 118 other wise. I have been a passenger in a twin-turbo Firehawk (that's a Trans-Am on steroids on roid-rage) doing 185mph on I-75 Southbound between Toledo and Bowling Green. We were racing a YZ 1200 crotch rocket. Needless to say, we won.
I just ripped out a 1/4 mile time of 14.7 in a 88 DX(!) Accord hatchy,and a top speed of 119 Mph.I almost shat my pants and I posted the same exact thing in carb tech,carb chugging adjustments.I could not believe it,and still cant believe it,as my car hasn't ran for about 6 months do date today.I cant even start to list the mods,as some of them were dome before I even got the car off of a track racer,than made it a sleeper again.The car is in bad shape cosmetically,but the motor is absolutley fine.

i've hit 127 in 88 lxi on the 60 freeway at like 3 in the morning. it was nice, absolutly no cars to get in my way. cant wait to see what it will do when i install my turbo :rockon:

when i first got my 86 LX id up to about 105-110(i think i could have gone faster) frequently but not so much anymore.. i dont feel like beating this car up if im on the interstate now i usually will max it out at 90 but thats me not the car
these cars wil do 130 like the speedo says, you primarily have to open up the exaust and intake so you can get the top rpmpower it runs out of breathing room with the stock exaust. for crying out loud my 81 civic hatch would do 85 on the interstate blew a few peoples minds, had a tendency to get airborne though. rolled it something like 14 times. the hatches seem to have better aerodynamics thats always been the case with honda's. i've run it at atlanta motor speedway years ago and got it up that fast, handled very stable. remember this is a two litre with a very good suspension many famous european cars were two litres
On level ground, my 84 seems to top out at about 105mph. One time on the long hills down into Los Angeles on I-5 I pegged the speedo (120+). The crazy thing is there were still people passing me.

my dad some times has the car up to 200kmph with out even relizing it till he looks down at the speedo and plp are still pasing him at that speed

i topped my 88 lx-i at 115 mph. i was on the 210 in cali. it could of gone faster, but it was in a heavily watched part of the freeway.

My '88 LX five-speed? I've hit 115 on two occasions, both real, real early-morning on a highway. Completely stock(other than K&N filter), just under 185K on the clock(purchased from original owner at 175K). I'm impressed... 100 at about 5K on fourth gear, and I'm just about certain it'll peg the speedo.
My GT-Four? I've had it up to 95 when I first got it... it hasn't been running long enough between fixings to get a decent run in, and the speedo cable's screwed up, anyway. But, I will say that there's a difference between the LX and the AWD, 3SGTE-powered beast. I'm sure this sucker will hit 140-150 at its stock 8psi, and that's with its 3300-pound cast iron butt... erk.

Heh.... well, as far as that goes... the GT-Four has been my 'project' of sorts for two and a half years. It's mostly running, but due to oil leaks and lack of time, it's sitting, but oh, what a fun to drive car that is. Still, it's a pain to work on, and not the best car to be learning on how to wrench with... on the other hand, it's made stuff on my LX seem like it's a piece of cake. Turbo replacement on a 3SGTE is, well... heh. Not exactly the most fun thing in the world, but considering this'll be the third time I've had to pull all the crap out of that area... hehe.Quote:

105mph. Thats it. I think i could probably do 110-115, but I dont think much more then that at all.
134 roughly. Stopwatch and mile markers. 2 ppl + way too many tools in the hatch. Not exactly stock. Took FOREVER in 5th to get the last bit of juice out of her. Sadly she developed a nasty head gasket leak shortly thereafter. Can't complain about these Kansas roads though. Plenty of domestic stompin' room!

The 89 4dr Auto I had would do 130 on a good cold night. The new beast (2dr 89 LX-I) hasent been over 80 yet because I just put a new axel in it and im not entirely sure that I trust me, lol. Sides theres no 5th gear right know but im thinkin I could do 115-120 in 4th because the 2dr has WAY more pull then the 4dr did. :)
the hatch has done 130+ at atlanta motor speedway back when i used to do a little club racing, I'e seen ones that are pure race prepped do a lot faster then that,no interior dual carbs,and thats on the rebuilt stock suspension. that was with a little over 10000 miles on the rebuilt engine.
In 1999 with my old 1987 Accord EXI (stock A20A4 engine) with 4 passangers, I hit 149 mph. The speedometer only goes to 220 kmh, but the cops told me the real speed... yes, I lost my license for 2 years... had to learn the hard way :P
