the opening on the side of the air cleaner is for a hot air tube,I built a custom hot air door thats sits on the manifold itself,I just didn't have it installed in the picture. it's for carb icing conditions and works like factory, except I can switch it on and off.
Here's my pics before the rebuild

This is after the rebuild and during the install me an my friend did.

As for the 07' Si Civic, not much going to be done to it until the warranty expires and I pay if off...

do u cut a hole under your battery plate thingy to put the cai in? i dont get how the battery still fits in nice :S
depends on the size of the piping and the battery.Quote:

love the new one!
use the generic purple stuff from Nappa, use it full strength then hose it off with a water hose. it's amazing stuff, took most of twenty years of grime off with no scrubbing. what is white under my hood was grimy gray and black,I had also had a PS pump puke fluid all over everything. it didn't hurt my painted parts eithier. took everything offQuote:

Can any of you super smart people tell me how you stuffed your CAI in the bumper i have an intake funnel, I can use I just don't know how to route the Hose.
Here you go DDRaptor. Theres lots of good info here: https://www.3geez.com/forum/search.php
DDRaptor, they usually cut a hole, but seeing yours is carbed, it prolly isnt even worth it, the stock cai is good enough ;)

carbs like warm/hot air
it makes a difference,I've noticed a big difference with my cowl induction. this is not a project for those squemish about doing serious modifying. or cutting body parts. I wish I still had my data from the flow tests but I belive I lost it on one of my old hard drives. this involved a lot of modifications and changes to the actual intake piece to get the best flow rate. the basic shape of the aluminum part is made from an antique aircraft intake casting. it involved a lot of time changing the length of the tube welded to it and grinding material off of the inside of the casting. kind of like porting. I used a mass airflow sensor hooked up to an ohmmeter. and did a lot of tests driving up and down the taxiway at work. the hot air intake tube is actually taped off inside of the aircleaner,I don't have the hot air stuf done yet for winter. the piece attached to the carb is actually several pieces, there is a metal ring that fits over the carb neck, then a machined aluminum ring that attaches to it. it anchors to the carb using the original intake screen, which holds the metal plate to the carb. the original rubber donut from the aircleaner sits on top of the carb neck, and the metal plate is sandwitched between it and the screen. the carb neck plate can be removed from the ring to make ones for different carb using the same setup. i built adjustment into the system from the design stage. it's anchored to the aircleaner using a urthane link like a swaybar end link. the whole thing can move slightly. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...3/ed99c75c.jpgQuote:

Not only that but the title of the thread is "engine ONLY pic thread", not "post meaningless crap thread".Quote:

why doesn't everyone keep the post whoring in off topic or OTX? this would save bandwidth and a lot of people like to talk about nothing on there anyway. we need a thread call no topic. cheeese brg' a lot of people like you,you are a cool guy and you've really been working hard on fixing your car. don't get down on yourself. now somebody post some more cool engine pictures please!! :)Quote:

I am going to look for a used fan that is thinner or buy a pancake fan from summit or something. it functions using the same controls as the factory hot air door, but I put in a solonoid so it can be switched off when not needed. it took about 40 hours of work to do all the metal fabricating for the air cleaner part, make the hose brackets, and modify the piece of the air cleaner that goes on the manifold shield,as well as the manifold shield itself. been working on it on and off for quite a while now. it was a pain in the ass because the piece that welds to the shield warped from the heat and the airdoor wouldn't work. just a lot of bending and beating, now it works right. for a note all the brackets that normally hold the power steering hose and ac hose are off right now,I haven't had the chance to finish polishing them yet.

that hose is the silicone hose that they use on aircraft and race cars, I found a piece thats been laying behind one of the machines for years,we couldn't use it on a new airplane because it was slightly scuffed. bad for them, good for me. :) somewhere on here is a thread when i was making all those parts for the system,I'll have to look for it. I've got the pictures somewhere
Here's mine, since y'all can't get enough of my car. Or is it that I can't get enough of my car?
Either way, I can't pass up this opportunity to whore it up any longer.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...n/IMG_1859.jpg
^^^speed are you going to mod it?
Eventually, I want to pay it off first, and I also want to really reach the limits of the car first, so I have an idea of what needs to be improved.
This is a hell of an upgrade from my DX, so I'm pretty happy with the way it is right now. Once the suspension starts holding me back from going as fast as I could otherwise I'll swap it out. Same for air system mods. I'm going to rebuild the engine before I do any engine work.
Or I may end up leaving stock, who knows?
^^nice nice very nice!!!
