That's what I have. How much hp would you get from the headers from pacesetter?
I have had the cat out (test pipe bolted in place) I have a DC header, and the Pacesetter cat~back piping with a Borla muffler. I cannot understand why the hell you want to make your car louder. Mine was too damn loud, thats why I recently sold my testpipe to Mike's89AccordLX. I got a "high flow" cat, it quieted my car down a bit. I can tell you removing your cat ,with having a stock exaust manifold that you WILL lose consiterable low end power, but some gain higher end. With the header and the test pipe, I had good low end and high end as well, the only problem being the noise. I was just annoyed by the loud hummm... of the exaust. It sounded like an Enraged Bumble Bee!!!!!!!!

See I'm used to it. But that's why people have good stereos. Either way we're going deaf. :) Hey whitehonda what did you paint your headers? like color and temp resist.?
Ok i see that you guys are talking about straight pipes and completly gutting the cats, but have you ever tried just putting about an inch wide hole in it and see what happens to the power???
What I am saying is that when i heard about it i was kinda stumped, but then i realized after researching it alot. That you really do get HP, but there still has to be back pressure somewhat in there.
With my 86 Accord LX it sucked right off the bat. I mean that it had good low end like crazy (stomp the gas, spin a bit. guess really high torque), but when i put a inch radius hole in my cat it moved the power to the mids where it really counts out. I don't got the slips or numbers to prove it, but i can tell ya that when I am coastin at like 20 mph and stomp it to past someone, it sinks you in the seat like you are sitting in a 98 camaro takin off from 0mph to like 20mph in a sec.
So gutting it completly creates no backpressure, having a straight muffler with it virtually creates no back pressure at all. So all in all, u need backpressure for the hp gains. And also to keep your crankshaft from freespinning into an exploding bomb. I seen this happen once.
Buddy of mine had no back pressure at all in his car after installing his straight pipe and muffler with no baffles. He started his car and revved it a couple of times, few seconds later, <pop!!!><kabooom!!!!> 2 piston heads flying in the air about 200 feet above us. Everyone ran like hell. Don't let this happen to you.
If you wanna get gains start with a small hole and work your way up until you get the right feel or peak hp from your engine.
My testpipe stunk and the sound was too loud. (with stock pipes and flowmaster muffler)
I second that. I have headers, gutted cat and no mufler. It sounds fuckin tight.Quote:

ya know for the piston to fly off, it'd have to bust through the crank, or snap the connecting rod / bolts, then fly through the head, valve train, valve cover, and then hood right?..... i know i've heard of busted connecting rods breaking the block..... but no pistons tearing through the head and going 200 feet up..... if its true, i'm sure it was cool as hell, lol
Well it sounds pretty cool though. :)
Oh boy ......... Here we go again. Let add another rice bucket to the list. Hahahaha he wants to make it louder! Oh man........Quote:

Just gut the CAT!!! It will get LOUDER!!! You should notice a good power increase too-topend!!! It will rasp a little depending on what muffler you have!!!
goddamnit. i was hoping this was the return of nate.
havent seen him around in a hella long time.
sorry to post whore but he cracked me up.
last i heard, ( a helluva long time ago ) he got banned for something, and he was also sellin his 3g, but he was funny as hell, good at putting people in place :D
yeah...he got banned months ago. but he came back a couple times with new screen names and caused a little trouble haha but hes gone for good i think. hasnt been back in months.
I tried running just straight headers and it was a little too loud for my taste. At idle it sounded really sweet but there wasen't much of a power gain if not a loss.
PLEASE EVERYONE READ THIS DAMNIT!!! IT WILL SAVE YOUR A$$ IN THE LONG RUN!!!
