560 is quite a bit how much hp am i going to gain over getting the muffler shop to make me 2.25 piping with my apex i n1 exhaust ?
my dad has stainless mandrell on his trans am.. 3 inch off the headers..

Major props for making this happen jon.:super: If I still had my 3g, I'd be on the list.
Will you guys please get this 2.5" nonsense out of your heads. Unless you have some serious mods, like wild cam, ported and polished heads, and rework for a higher rev limit. You cannot benefit in a positive way over 2.25". You will not have enough exhaust gas volicity. Even then, without a displacement increase, I highly doubt it is a power band enhancing move. I think theirs this notion that you need to be one up on the other guy. Thing is, it's the other way around.

I do have serious mods. See that engine in my sig? It has the JDM ITR 4-1 header with a FACTORY 2.5" collector. I want to keep 2.5" all the way back. It would make no sense to go with a smaller exhaust.
Also, Rob needs a 2.5" because his car will be turbo. He should actually even want to get a 3" exhaust because the bigger exhaust the better for turbo.
i know my exhaust is cheap....i get ur point too...whoever made that point. whoever you are....anyways yeah...so what was this thread about....im sleepy and tired at 10:27 am in the mornin...too early for me...wait this is offtopic..nevermind
yeah go exhaust dude
hey wicked why don you call HKS and make them make a turbo kit for the accord too:D
damn all of a sudden i want another 3 gee :(
I have 2.5 exhaust on my hatch and it feels great.Quote:

This is a DC Sport exhaust that is MADE for our car. It comes in Stainless Steel and will not rust. Everything has smooth bends and is not like that crinkled shit you get at midas or whatever cheap exhaust places. That is why it is almost $600
You guys are killin' me.Quote:

There's a shop in a small town of 7000 where I live that has a mandrel bender. The machines only cost an average of $2K more than the hydraulic benders. Ask around and i'll bet you could find some performance shops in your area that have mandrels. Besides being cheaper, any exhaust shop worth anything will be able to bend the pipe straighter than any aftermarket company while still being able to hang on the factory hangers.
It doesn't matter how "crinkled" you pipe looks on the outside, it's still smooth on the inside. You can knurl a square groove on the outside of thinwall piping and the depressions on the inside will be rounded, NOT square like they are on the outside. The main difference between mandrel and hydraulic bent pipe is the severity of the angles in which the pipes are bent. Naturally, the mandrel bent pipes will be smoother and the degrees of the bends more gradual (less severe) than hydraulic. The more laminar (smoother) airflow is what makes an exhaust more effective. The only way of acheving this is by making your exhaust piping as straight as possible and whether your piping is mandrel or hydraulic bent means little when compared to the overall picture (in our case). Mandrel could shave some hundredths or thousandths of you 1/4 time. I say that b/c our cars HP run in the lower side of the hundreds (on average). If we ran 8 second cars w/ 900 HP V8 engines, I would not hesitate to have every part of the exhaust (all headers) mandrel bent. I can think of better, more gainful mods to put on my car w/ 400 dollars that I would save by not getting a DC Exhaust.
But Wicked, seriously, props for sticking with it and convincing one of the big boys to dust off their specs sheets and making the 3Geez members some higher quality performance parts.
You rock my friend. :super:
my point exactly.. u guys have to understand the quality that is in this. so it's something u cant compare to a custom exhaust that will rust on u. i dont mind if u guys dont buy this, but must i warn u that this may be an only one time deal for this. right now im trying to push this so DC will realize that there r still 3geez enthusiast out there. and if they find out that i cant even pull this off for them, they're not going to give a shit about me. they'll jus say.. here's ur damn exhaust now leave us alone.Quote:

as for the 2.5, yea it'll be good to have. but like jim said., if u cant back up ur shit.. 2.5 is worthless. sure it'll give u some better gains,.. but ull loose back pressure and due to that. u loose torque. 2.5 is good for my set up, steve's set up, and rob's set up. but for a fairly stock car. it's not worth the loss of torque. u may not feel it., but it'll definately show on a dyno. im using 2 1/4 for my set up and eh.,, dont bother me. right now it's jus too loud becuz of no restriction on the TRUST system. even though TRUST is greddy.. there is a difference in the resonators. jdm.. less restrictive... usdm.. more restricitive.
but no problem for the props.. dont props me., prop urselves for being enthusiastic about a 3gee. as far as HKS goes.. they made exhaust for our cars too.. but those freakin bastards dont want to make it. and turbo.. dont even go there.. they'll jus laugh and say it'll cost too much for fabrications and no one will dish out that money for it.
Wicked's right about the 2.5 in piping. It's just too much. Even those of you w/ no mods at all might not notice anything until the engine reaches the high end of the powerband. Look at how many mods wicked had on his monster and he still runs 2.25 in. I say the only time to run 2.5 in for our cars is if you've got turbo. Otherwise, stick w/ the 2.25 in.
I agree that the DC is worth every penny.
I may think about getting it. but not anytime soon.
Wicked... it's not back pressure you need... it's exhaust velocity.
And its exhaust velocity that you will lose when you get 2.5" over 2.25"
The faster the exhaust travels out, the greater the scavanging effect, so you'll have greater vacuum pulling in more air from the TB or Carb.
Mike, were you saying that 2.5 pipe has less exhaust velocity and the 2.25 has more?
Yes the 2.25 has more exhaust velocity.
OK OK.. now r there any that r interested besides mike and myself?? please pm me if u want a set up. u can pay through PAYPAL also when it is settled.
 jon
I have a few questions
Is that a ONE SHOT deal????
Is it Carb legal (so cops can't complain about it)
Do we make the deal directly through DC sports?
I'm concerned about this cause I just spent alot of money on the car lately and I can't get the exhaust right now (all new bushings/balljoints, rear disc/bigger front disc conversion, Strut bar, B20A parts, Koni struts.... stuff that add up to more than 1k in a week... so I would want the catback but only if
1- it's street legal
2- I can get it a bit later
3- I see the color of my money
definately 50 state street legal. i cannot gaurantee it to be available later. and i doubt u can go through DC sports. most of the time.. shops like that wont even talk to u. i only got this deal becuz my friend knows inside players to DC. and like i said before.. if i cant even pull this deal off.. DC probably wont even bother with me and my friend again the next time. which is y im getttin mine in a hurry.
 jon
How much are they going to make, only as needed or a little more supply?
Many people wanted them from time to time....
I would think it would be a one time deal as well since the wouldnt even talk to me with 10 buyers. I tried this about a year or two ago and i tried to hunt down one from the first batch and DC even gave me some shops to call that they supplied but had no luck with that. So i would think this would be the last chance to get one if at all.
ROB is right.. and like i said before. if there i cant get that much buyers.. DC will only look at it like it's still not worth producing to 3gee accords cuz there isnt enough enthusiast out there. compared to civics or integras.. it jus wont be worth their time.
is there a way to see what the tip is going to look like? or even a ballpark of the sound will it be a tanabe racing medallion sound ? or something like a hks dragger ? i dont want to spends almost 600 for something that i dont even like the sound of it
expect the sound to be more like GREDDY'S sound. due to it being 50 state legal. i would presume it to be more GREDDY. although i havent heard it on our cars yet.. but others.. it's almost the same as greddy's. then again every car sounds different due to the motor. 4inch tip slanted.
