SpeedySweetie's 3G Racecar ! ( Part 1 & 2 )

Hey all...

Ran my 'cord up and down the street today, it has butt-loads of top end like you wouldn't believe! It sounds wicked with the header and that exhaust, too. Unfortunately, I wasted my alternator!!! I have a start button wired up that runs through the stock ignition, and there's some feedback somewhere and it cooked the voltage regulator in the alternator....I NEED ONE LIKE NOW! LOL If anybody has one for sale (alternator that is) let me know and I'll buy ASAp thru paypal! I've got an electrical wiring guru coming over to figure out where the feedback is coming through and I also bought an MSD box (the Sport Compact kind) today and hope to put that in before Saturday.

Oh yeah, got the radios wired in today too and they work great! As soon as I get this thing to the track (this past Saturday's race was rained out...boo!) I'll have the crew chief take some video and I'll post a link for ya'll.

Also, any suggestions on gaining cheap easy bottom end would be much appreciated.....butt-loads of top end ain't gonna do me a whole lot on a tiny 3/10ths mile track!

SpeedySweetie, an alternator from the autozone is only $ 65 or something like that. get one and drop it in. you can get a $65 from nopi or Bosch for $90.

Someone emailed me and asked about the green tube I used in the CAI....so I'll share with everybodee:

The green tube is a silicon-based radiator hose from a semi! (like Peterbilt's, Mack's, etc.). The silicon is flexible, which serves a dual purpose for me. If I get hit (or I hit the wall), the pipe will bend instead of breaking or pinching shut. Also, the silicon is supposed to stay cooler than traditional metal tubes. Don't know whether that's true or not, but I like the idea!

Yeah, I just stumbled on this thread. First time I've read it. Man, what a conversion. That was a clean 3gee for that price. $800 for that condition is insane. Nice find. Good luck at the races, I honor your need for serious modification, job well done!

hell yea that is really cool. You might end up changing the spring rates I wasn't too happy with the amout of oversteer I was getting with the dropzones, Eibach has a lot to choose from. You will figure out once you can drive it around the track how it handles, also have you corner weighed it, cross weights, etc like that yet?

Fackin A! That is one sweet lookin' race car. Can't wait to see the vids.

After the first race last night, I hope this car lasts a LOT longer than one season! We have guys who race the same cars for 4 or 5 seasons. I trashed my first race car (the Dodge Daytona) because I had gone through 3 motors and 3 trannys in one and half seasons. I figured nothin's gonna do me better than a 3G so that's what I bought and built.

Here's the big news, guyz....

I WON THE FEATURE LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!

I started in 3rd, and by lap 3 I had taken over the lead spot and lead every lap to the end! My 3G performed flawlessly, and I only got one little scuff on the back bumper, and the dropzone coils worked impeccably! We took 2 rounds out on the coils in the front after hot laps (before the feature) because the car was "assy" (loose on corner exit) and those 2 rounds made all the difference! The motor was as smooth as butter, the brakes were awesome, the handling was exceptional, and I kicked all their asses!!! I was racing against 16 other cars (Preludes with all-wheel steer, and Nissans with DOHC, and Toyotas and Beretta, and newer Hondas with VTEC's). That was the funnest night of my life! I became the first and only female driver to ever win a feature at that track, which has been open since the 1940's! It was quite a night!

The track hasn't updated their website yet, but when they do, you can see a picture of my win at http://shadybowl.com/photos/ and read the article about the race at http://shadybowl.com/pressreleases/ . I'm going to post the video clip on my website later today and I'll post a message in here with a link when I get it done.

Thanks again to everyone from 3 Geez who have shared their experience, expertise and damn good advice that helped me get my first win!

Keep in mind the "video" was shot by my 11 year old son with a Kodak digital camera, not a camcorder. In the video, you see my teammate Taja in her 88 Accord LXi in the lead, and I was in 3rd. I took over the lead on the following lap.
