You know, you should put a foam pre-filter wrap on that element to keep them from clogging so quickly. The filter diameter and height looks ALOT like some of the Kohler and Onan engine filters. You should take your filter by a small engine shop and see if they can match it pretty close to a Kohler filter or Onan filter, and then buy the pre-filter that fits best.
Then, all you do is wet it down with some engine oil, and wring it out so all it has is a light coating of oil. Slip it over your paper element, and voila, you wont have to chagne your paper element for a year or more. All you have to do is take the foam pre-filter to the sink, use some detergent and hot water and clean it really good, let it dry out, re-oil, and re-install it. DO NOT use gasoline or any other product to clean it, and do not use any other oil than plain motor oil, or maybe some K&N filter oil if you really want to go overboard lol. The light film of motor oil on the foam catches all the dust before it reaches the paper filter. The paper filter will have almost nothing reach it, lengthening it's life usually five times or more.

it is a kohler filter,I got it from nappa,I just haven't been able to find a kohler dealer around here to find the filter wrap. thats exactly what I had planned to do.

well the next will be dual sidedraft OER carbs,I've had it with trying to fix the factory keihin and possessed Rube Goldberg spaghetti bowl. I'm going to keep the air cleaner,I actually thought of getting a factory FI airbox and modifying it extensivly to attach over the carb necks then ducting air from the aircleaner. I wouldn't need the factory air filter because it would interfere with the carbs,but just the box itself. by doing this I would still be pulling air from the scoop and can retain the carb heat system for cold weather. warm air is useful for all carbs under carb icing conditions.

cobra jet, I was wondering where the scoop came from. I have no problem with that at all, I was looking at 2002 mustang hoods that look almost like that, backward facing old cobra jet. Anything that will make more clearance.
