i do have a question though about my steering...
the power steering line from the rack is in my way now that i removed the power steering. i want to take it off but idk if its bad to just leave that hole in the rack. i imagine dirt and dust would get in there if its open and thats the last thing i need. so is there a trick that idk about to do to it?
their should be two lines coming out of the rack. if you plan on not hookin back up the ps then you make sure you have fluid in the rack and find a way to hook them together. you leave fluid in the rack so it doesn't damage from operating dry. a better solution can be found in the thread "Manual or Power Steering in the 2gees?" it uses a manual rack from a 2gee, which has no lines and will steer easier(designed that way). you would have to get older civic inner tie rods and a new rack though.
its used but i plan on doing an all out build on the old motor
i searched but nothing came up... but im thnking about looking into some brass line like that and rigging it to basically make a circuit of fluid
what if i just cut the in and out lines and then clamp on a hose from both ends. i could dump some fluid through the hose before i clamp the last side and that would allow fluid to remain in the rack... right?
for now ill just loop it together until i can hit pull a part and get a spare rack to do it on... i just need a temporary fix until i get the time and money to do it right... i have exactly 22 days to install the motor and make sure it runs correctly before my warranty is up and i still have alot of stuff that needs to be done... but which ports are for in and out on our racks? anyone got pics or advice?
yea i saw it but the accords looks different... or at least mine does... and when i get on mitchells and pull up diagrams all i get is the rack that has 4 ports from the rack... sooooo.... ill try to post pics of the diagrams
Try this manual.
that manual is great man.... i only wish i had enough ink or a good enough printer to print out 955 pages XD i might go to ups or something and pay for it cuz that is a great lifetime investment
We aim to please. :D
I have one of those! It's for Aerodecks and fixed headlight sedans, though.
ok well ive practilly set up shop at PaP now. i have to get the oil seperator assembly or ill have to find a way to rig it to work.... but its a pain in the ass to get it off while the motor is still in the car so now im stripping this 3gee down to make life easier. plus who knows i might find something else i need in the process... its just to bad they dont have an se-i in my junkyard :( i want rear disks
one question i do have is since im doing my p/s delete and just looping the in and out lines from the rack, would it effecct my speed sensor? im filling the rack with fluid so idk if that would affect it
:sadwave:
bump before i have to go to school tomoro?
doesn't effect speed sensor to my knowledge. my ps has been gone for almost 2 years and i just straight up removed the pump and pulled the lines out. didn't even loop it. speed sensor still works fine. the only reason ps fluid goes to that is because i think it somehow makes your power assist variable. like when not moving, it assists more than when going down the interstate
ok :D good to hear. plans for today are to finish my p/s delete, put the transmission back on, and try to figure out a way to rig that oil breather tube from the manifold to work... o and buy my springs :D im uber excited for the drop
ok... so what does the thing i broke do? its called an oil breather from what ive seen and heard but if its just pushing air into the box couldnt i rig something to make it work? im on a tight budget so anything less than the 40 ill have to spend on parts + downtime is great
bump?
