how many miles on your current 3G?

Mine has 361K miles. Runs great. Original engine with only the head gasket replaced at 250K. It's had 4 timing belts, 3 water pumps, and on its second clutch. The 5 spd trans was rebuilt at 280K due to 5th gear noise.

I started using Royal Purple oil at 200K and had to replace all the seals due to leaks. That stuff really cleans your engine out. I change oil every 12K miles and use mobil 1 filters. I have access to oil analyzing equipment and this tells me when the oil viscosity and particle count is getting to the point it needs to be changed. I also have a pre-oiling system using an oil accumulator and solenoid valve that I use to build oil pressure to 40 psig before starting the car.

It still gets 34 mpg. I've removed the power steering and converted it to manual, removed the air conditioner, installed a MSD 6A ignition and coil, removed all vacuum lines, installed manual choke, and manual secondary on the carb. The EGR has been removed and the ports on the stock intake have been machined off so it looks like an after market intake.

I don't hotrod it as it is my work car. My next project is doing away with the distributor and building a crank fire ignition from EDIS components and Megajolt Lite Jr to control it and spark advance settings.

Update: my car now has 482k miles and is still going strong. I got rid of the distributor 5 years ago and installed the Megajolt Lite Jr and it works awesome.

Mine has 172882 miles, just getting ready to do the timing belt for the second time, it had 115000 on the clock when I took it out of the barn that it sat in for 8 years.....

I started with an blue 87 sedan auto LX with 186,xxx. It got totaled, at 226,xxx. Bought a blue 88 sedan auto LX, with bad engine, at 185,000. Swapped the engine, trans, axles and suspension. Made it a 5 speed, added MSD , pacesetter header, rebuilt head. Now has about 240,xxx on the motor. 198,000 on the body.

Not one engine problem, ever, no smoke, no head gaskets, etc..

My biggest problem so far = carburetor float bowl (non-Honda part figures lol)

I bought my 1988 Hatchie LXi from the original owner who is a really good friend of mine. I bought it in March, 2008 with 175k miles on it. Now it is over 176k, and I do drive it a lot, but I have 3 other cars, 2 of which are daily drivers and 1 show car Chevelle hot rod.

I replaced the fuel injectors about a year ago. Something is still spewing off smoke smell under the hood. Had the rack-and-pinion steering replaced a few weeks ago. Looks like that is the 2nd rebuilt steering part for that car. My friend that replaced the R&P told me the part he took out was re-manufactured. What gives with the steering? Should last longer than this! I know my buddy was easy on this car too. No race mods. All stock with 2.0 liter and 5-spd manual. This was a family car for him for 2 decades!

bought the civic in november 08 with 159k... now up to almost 177k

almost up to 283k now in mine. but my speedo is off so undoubtedly my mileage is also off.

my 4gs dash says 230k... but the cluster probaly hasent worked for years as i bought it with a bad vss and the vss that was in it was also not oregnal (from an automatic and didnt work so it was swaped at one time and was not working when i got it lol) probaly has around 300k on her

286,xxx on the LXi body, 12k on a rebuilt engine that I swapped over from my other 3g that I totaled. dropped 2", tinted windows, pacesetter headers, pacesetter monza exhaust, new axels up front, new radiator, new alt, ngk plugs, taylor spiro 8mm wires, custom short air ram, optima red top battery, and some aftermarket fog/driving lights (with 5 colored leds, all of which are illegal), 15" dark grey AR rims with toyo proxis4's.

189,544 and still going strong. All original but needing a little body work.

Well.....its 8 months later, and I'm up to 168,600. Recently took a 2000 mile round trip and car ran flawlessly....getting over 34mpg.

86 LXi 280,000 rebuilt cooling system and a 5 speed from the JY. I need a new egr today shop I can order it for $250 I was like no thanks.

175,000 on 88 lx (my current one) 234000 on my old 87 lxi i had before that. an now looking at a 86 lxi with 264000 i think he said. gotta love those hondas!

body has 410,00 when i rebuild the motor it had 380,00 LOL. But now i dont even car for the miles i just look for every 2,000 and then drop the oil

body had 336 010 and engine has probably 185 or 200,000
