Re: Mushroom_Toys wholelottapics 86LXI Update Thread
Well the manifold is welded, its a b16 one with 1 inch added to straighten the runner, but I dont like how thick and thin the wall varies so Im gonna add some more aluminum and grind it down to suit me, besides that gotta pick up some couplers, another stock a20 tps, cut and drill the b16 mani and pick up a few other small odds and ends and shell be ready.

Re: Mushroom_Toys wholelottapics 86LXI Update Thread
Ill throw more pics up of the mani setup tonight...im a little dissapointed in how the previous owner did the mani...but hopefully I can fix it pretty right.

That's pretty sweet looking. How are you going to manage fuel on those? Just using the stock computer? You going to tap all 4 runners and run vacuum lines to a manifold for the MAP signal, or are you going to weld a balance tube on it? Sorry if you've answered these questions already, I didn't see it on the last 2 pages, and didn't really wanna read 36 pages back to find out. :) Perfect time for a Megasquirt / EDIS setup. :D

Some guy that said they were used on a b18c setup, but the carbs havent been used though because the secondary butterfly ports arent sealed...so they would leak like a bitch.

Im just gonna use my Safc off of stock ecu to manage fuel, and a fpr. Im gonna be buying and installing a wideband so I can be a lot more accurate with it. Im pretty good at quad carb tuning so it shouldnt be too bad. Whoever had these carbs before already threaded, and sealed the injector ports on the throttle bodies, so Im gonna just be using that, theyre already connected 3 into 1 and 1 into 1 for brake booster. Also got two-eight small vac ports I can use for dizzy, map, and acc.
Eventually I might make my obd0-obd1 harness and install my p75, but for now Im gonna try to tune with my safc. I think I can make it work. I dont really mind finicky setups too bad....I sure do bitch about em, but if you ever tried to crank my bike youd understand hahaha. My kz550 is the most finicky quad carb bike Ive ever tuned.

I tried this once with the long couplers. It failed. Do you have tubing inside them? Did you ever see my bike carbs running on my B20A? The vacuum is enough to suck those things together. Though watching the individual intake pulses is pretty badass. Hope yours are stronger than mine...

If you have the same problem, you could just order some tubing the same size as your throttle bodies and cut rings to reinforce the tubing by stuffing them inside. Onlinemetals.com has just about every size tubing you can imagine.

Yeah I was actually trying to buy some silicone 1 1/2 hose in bulk yesterday but no one had any :(...so I went with these for now.

what year is the 550? Ive got a 78 kz400. Its all original 9k mile bike and only ever been in the rain once on a long ride I got caught it. Can you try the RS Flatslides on the 550? They make them in smaller formats, 32mm. Ive got a ton of them for use on my 900 ninja, 1000 ninja, 1280 ninja, 1361 ninja. All are gpz!! even have an eddie lawson from 83

Its an 82 550. Yeah im pretty sure I can use the flatsides, but the tks are fine for me. My bike doesnt use the cv carbs that a lot of kawis use. On another note I have a 76 kz400 project im trying to get rid of lol...and I used to ride a 79 Kz400. :)

Re: Mushroom_Toys wholelottapics 86LXI Update Thread
So is that the stock 3gee TPS sensor? Does the SAFC allow you to recalibrate for new TPS values? Just curious, never have used one before. Also just assuming that those throttle bodies have a different amount of throw from fully closed to WOT? I was watching Cygnus's ITB build for a while, but he was using MegaSquirt, so I think he could do a full TPS calibration in his ECU. Haven't read much about tweaking the stock ECU, so it's pretty interesting to see it done this way. :)

Its a tps off a 88-89 Throttle body...so for my car its not stock, but im just gonna make a simple harness adapter. My tps values will stay around the same as stock since Im using tha accord tps. Actually the throw on most tbs ive ever dealt with has been about the same. I might be off about .2 or so on each tps setting, closed and wot, but Ill be fine with it.
The safc can read stock settings, but you cant set a scale diff values with it. Using it to read my stock 86 Tps it read about .465 closed, and 4.67 Wot, which is almost right, I should be able to get the honda tps on the itbs that close, just gotta make my simple harness so I can test it and adjust if i need too. I can always enlarge the holes a little on my plate too for more adjustment.

Re: Mushroom_Toys wholelottapics 86LXI Update Thread
You can recalibrate it on the safc. Holding the gas down for a few secounds an so on. bobafett told me how to do it since i was off on the afc reading. didnt say 100 percent. Very good work bro. cant wait to see it in action

Youre basically talking about resetting though. right? Not setting new values. :)
-
Re: Mushroom_Toys wholelottapics 86LXI Update Thread
correct but no need to reset new values on a stock tps. like you mentioned. youll be fine.
