Thank you again Doug for your time and effort.
The next step for me is to grind down all the welds and start to correct body imperfections!
wOOt!!! nice job!
lol all i could think of was hip replacement..lol you going to get some rear disk?
Yes I bought a set of SE-I brakes however they have failed to show up as of yet.
I'm gunna Pm him right now to see if there where anymore issues.
Man.. I'm so happy this step is done...
Man! That looks great!
I have to agree it did turn out a lot better than i planned and considering the fact that i'm used to welding stuff 1/8" or thicker, so it was a learning experience for me as well. had fun doing it and hope Mike doesn't have to much trouble with it
aww man wish i knew how to weld so i couldfix my poor old tank up (volvo)
anyhow
nice prgress great to see it coming along so well
You still owe me mike big time :P just messin

LOL NO! I kept trying to get food etc.. but he was turning it down... I"ll pay you back Doug :-)
That's some nice work you did there!
Was it really hard to align? Did you bust holes frequently? Those panels are a bitch to weld in place.
It didn't take Doug long to get the hang of welding the thin metal... yeah it was a bitch to align, however with two guys (who have not done this before BTW) we managed to do awesome! :-) It feels so good to be able to fininally close that facking door again :-)
good luck on the project bro. its coming along nicely :)
Wow. I just wanted to say that you rock. Hardcore. Just by looking at the pics you put down have been showing me what it takes to get decent bodywork done. While my 3G is in pretty good shape on the rust, I just bought a G1 Legend that's sorely in need of a rustectomy. This definately gives me inspiration to repair that sucker instead of letting it sit and rot some more. Once again, thanks a lot!
rustectomy hahah
I got to remember that one!
Your Most Welcome!!
Quite honestly I don't know why but when I looked at my car (while I was still driving) I just always knew it would be rust free one day...
Cheers :-)
Hey Gemini none of your pics are working now. Any updates?
ya but... you switch cars half way threw the projectQuote:

I'm about to sound dampen my trunk so it's completely stripped of wires etc. A few sprays of rust preventing primer and it's ready to go. Laying B-quiet Extreme as soon as possible.

It's way easier to work with then I thought. I can't wait to work on the rest of the body.
looking good man!
damn, looks like that came out nice. used a propane torch to work the material?
Man I get a little more pumped about seeing the end result of this project every time you update!
The propane torch (A tiger torch) is used to heat our Shop. It's noisy but it only takes like 5-6 min to heat up my section now that I've insulated it.
We have a big fan and I was using it to blow the hot air from the ceiling onto the B-Quiet to warm it up and that worked great. You can see the B-Quiet in the first pic sitting on the car.
Thanks... see you later!
i bet you will not have any road noise when you are finished
hey what are you doing with those prelude seats?
sound dampening looks good

Trunk Done!!!
:Edit (forgot something):
I would like to mention that working with B-Quiet Extreme is Excellent for a first time user. For Prep I washed the metal with soapy water. The instructions read that no heat gun is required and that applying the B-Quiet at or above room temperature is all that's needed (EASY!). I did just that :-D ... after the first hour of working with it you start to get a feel on the shapes and cuts that are needed for each section. As for cutting I didn't even use a good knife I just held a utility knife blade in my hand which worked fine for me. It's minus 20 Celsius here so if the B-Quiet was going to fall off due the cold it would have tonight (and still hasn't).
So overall B-Quiet Seems excellent coming from a first time user POV I can't wait to see how much quieter it will be in may car. I have 100 Sq ft and I intend on using every inch I can and doubling up in some areas.
Nice WORK man!!!
Thats gonna be a Silent 3gee!
wow you can turn up the tunes and not have the trunk make noise!
Looking good Mike! Where are you planning on getting it painted? I think I'm gonna give my car a fresh coat in the spring.
Yay both of you can do a Photoshoot!
I'm not sure... I guess I'll do it when it the weather gets half assed nice around here... or just after they sweep the streets :-) Zack from this site (Pinball Kidd) Works at Maaco I think so I may try to get it painted there :-)
Are you still gonna paint it this colour?
http://gemini-online.net/web/images/DSC00026.jpg
Yes or something extremly close...
More like:
http://geminiwebhosting.ca/images2/Truck.JPG

man...makes me want to strip out my trunk and put some mat in it..
NICE!
It's gonna be a pimpin Car once it's done!
Hi Guys and gals, Mr R here. Nice job Mike on trunk which I even know will help with the tunes BUT I don't think it will ever take away what this engine will sound like at 7 g. We need to talk this weekend about your intake and header and exhaust system okay. By the way I think you will make us all proud once your done this prodect and I am just happy to be part of it.
Mr R

Question : That sound proofing stuff you used how hard was it to get the seats out and the get under the carpet to install it.
THanks.
simple dude your unbolt the seats unscrew the center counsol and unscrew a cupple trim peaces the hold the crapet in place and your set... should not take more then an hour to pull the seats and carpet outQuote:

Mini Update:
First things First:
The seats are easy to get out. Pm me if you need directions. :-) One thing tho I haven't gotten to the seat yet but I can't see anything being difficult.Quote:
