Less than 2 weeks, I'm getting stoked!!

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
me too. I've got a shitload of work to do now though. Broke the drivers side motor mount yesterday. Instead of snapping it in half it sheared the bolts off the block. So I've got to replace that, my clutch, and my timing belt.

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
yeah it's gonna be. I got my dad to ride along with me at the autox yesterday right before I broke the mount, so he got to feel how fast it is.
He liked it so much that later that night he offered to cover half the cost of the headwork I want done as a birthday present. I guess he kinda wants to see me kick an evo's ass. Especially since I'm only about 2 seconds off with a badly slipping clutch, and a carb that causes misfires on left hand turns.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
Damn, sounds nice.
The shit I ordered better get here soon! Would like to install it before the meet...
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!! :D

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
good mapquest says its 3.5hrs from me to portland but at 204 miles that seems a little fast. Ill take off around 7am giving me 4 hours to make, gas stops, and issues if any arise. This is getting to be great. I hope to turn the key tomorrow or thursday at the latest. lets all hoipe it starts right up like I hope it does.
On a brighter not things could always get worse. Its bad, very bad

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
i find it humbling to walk the local junkyards not for parts but for the crnage of accidents and misue. I found a 91 prelude with a b20a5 in it and it looks amazingly like the pics. When I walked by and saw the car in mint shape i had to pop the hood. One look revieled why it was there. Ive seen windowed blocks usually from a broken rod or snapped crank. Ive never seen a full piston sticking out of the block and thus it became picture worthy. It costa dollar to get in and its about 15 minutes north of me. Not a huge yard maybe 20 acres but still lots of fun.
Oh no pics yet but the wiring is nearly complete. I need to tie the fan switch in on the radiator, figure out how to resecure the wiring loom on the back of the block without the factory intake. I retorqued almost everything as the project has been going so long I soulnt remember what was tight and what was loose. The DC strut tower brace is installed and looks great with the edelbrock intake. Its too bad my 70mm TB wont work.
Hopefully Ill get the wewlding done and the interior wiring installed and well see what happens.

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
I'm really hoping that I can get the hatchy all fixed up, and ready for the meet. I'll still be coming even if I don't have it running, but it'd kinda suck to have to drive there without it.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
Bitesize, i was installing the led gauges finally tonight and one of the resistors on the top is broken off the solder. Is there a way you can fix it at the meet? i cant solder and dont want to learn on something like this. would you need it removed from the car or does it matter to you? Thanks man.
One day closer to the meet. One less day I have to be sure my car is ready for the meet. Its going to be very close definatly down to the wire.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR

your not the only one here john. the good news is the b20a breathed life finally after 5 years in the garage dormant. I need to figure out the trtansmission issue and Ill be set. I want to see how mine ompares to the rest of accords out there
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
Gotta get that baby on the Dyno, right next to my B20A! We'll see if the single Weber is restrictive or not. Or if I'm really just shit at tuning the carbs!
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
damn a week away. WELL if i dont get this wire soon...I WONT be running fucking sucks.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
single weber hell what about those idividual carbs you posted pic of that what ill come to see.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
I still haven't gotten the measurements to Mike yet to finish my manifold for those carbs. So we won't be seeing them at the meet. I'm trying to focus on getting the car safe to drive down there first. The wheel bearing noise was so bad I didn't even want to test and tune the carb. I had to replace that stuff first, let alone trying to drive it to Portland!
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
Messy, who all is staying in your room. Turabaka and I'll sleep on the floor and chip in some dough.

Once you get this sorted out, can I give you coin and stay there? Or where are you planning on renting?

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
what a bunch of pansies. havent you guys ever slept in the back seat or just reclined the fronts. My last job I drove forever than had to work forever. I found it was easier to crash in the car for a few hours then keep driving. Every 4th day Id get a good nights sleep in a real room. No really Id like to see how many accord nuts can we get into a single room.

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
I slept in the back of my 81. It was padded and carpeted and levelled out for hauling stuff in back there. Back seat removed completely. It was REALLY comfortable, despite being unable to stretch. Slept back there when I went down to the Motoring J-Style show and got sick at the show, then later I threw up all over Pico's house.

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
sorry guys the bad dizzy was the final nail in the coffin. the wifey has been turning a blind eye to the amount of money Ive been spending to get the car ready for the meet and with the gas for the trip, spending money while there and now fixing a busted igniter i wont make it. Ill see what i can pull up but without a job or source of income i doubt its going to happen. Ive got a lead on some side jobs and im sure i wont be able to pull them off and get paid to order the rest of parts in less than a week. Ill report back if anything changes but till then, have fun.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
Shit, I think I might have a B20A distributor if it will get you down to the meet. I will check around and see if I still have it...
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
So here's the deal with the Lodging for those of you who are coming from out of town.
Friday night, you guys can come crash at my place. I think that would be the easiest thing to do. I'll fire up the BBQ Friday night, we can light up the fire pit out in my back yard, and eat and have some beers, play video games, or whatever. Everybody is welcome to come out. I've got plenty of parking and room for everybody to sleep.
Get up Saturday morning, go to Portland, and we'll just get a place to crash down there. I'll shop around as soon as I get my ATM card. We'll have a room ready to go down there, where yet, I don't know, but just plan on bringing $10-20 to pitch in on the room if you're going to crash there. Sunday morning we can all grab breakfast or leave from there, whatever you wanna do.
So just know that if you're going to be staying in Portland, I'll make sure there's a place to crash.
I'm updating the first post in this thread with this new information.

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
its the 8 wire teg dizzy. if yours has the standard obd12 plug it should work? ill look into it, got a pic. My ignigter is bad so we may be able to just swap the ignigter out or the whole dizzy? Mines from a b18a from a 93 teg
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
MIKE you have to come. if a dizzy is holding you back im sure someone here well hook it up like john said. I could go out to johns place but then thats a big trip. but anywho...ill go to portland fri night...prolly hit up the sonics meet and kick it with alex or w/e.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
zack reminded me of my b18c in the garage at my parent place. Im going down there tomorrow and grab the dizzy off that to see if itll work. if I can get the car going for not much money Im sure I can get the funds for the trip going but nothing more into the car. Lets hope the dizzy or at least the igniter is the same.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
I have a vigor rear sway bar that I want to get rid of if anyone wants it.
I paid $20 iirc, so I just want my money out of it :)
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
what parts do you need to bring the hatch zack? i could go pull some out of the closet or off my 87 hatch is they are easy enough. Thanks for the offer on the dizzy by the way. i posted this same statement on my car update page but here it is for those that dont follow me.
30 minutes later and i find that my b16 head installed on the b18c block Ive got is from a 2000 civic si. Hopefully this means its something special. I also compared the b16 dizzy to the b18a dizzy and the mounting tabs are way different. The b16 dizzy will not work with the jdm b20a. The igniter, cap, rotor are all the same part numbers. The b16 wires have deeper protrusions into the spark plug cavaty than the b18a wires Im using so they do not seat on the valve cover like they are supposed to.
I get it installed, turn the key and 1/4 of a revolution and its purring again. Lets hope it stays this way this time around. This means if the clutch is good Im off to portland. I think thats my last major debacle to tackle. Ive got the interior to finish installing and a few other bits but this was a major milestone for me today. Exhaust will be taken care of tomorrow and Ill drop it on the ground and see if itll go under its own power. Lets hope so.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
Sweet, yeah I saw that on your update page. Glad you got it running. Screw the interior. I'm driving down with no interior in my car, since I threw away my carpet, and my back seats are shot. Just focused on getting the car drivable. It's pretty much there. I drove around a whole bunch this evening. And it's running pretty good. A little alignment, and some fine tweaking on the carb, and she'll be rocking! Can't wait to head down!!
Alex, you should just bring that sway bar. Once someone sees it, I'm sure they'll take it off your hands. Impulse sales FTW.
-
Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
I'm wishing I had more time to work on my car. My interior is gonna be kinda torn to hell. No passenger side door panel. Unfortunately I ran out of time with all the crappy engine things that needed to be fixed.

Re: Portland, Seattle, Washington, Oregon Meet!!! June 20, 2009 PIR
I'm stoked for this meet. I've kinda hit the panicking stage though since I still haven't got the engine back into the car. Tomorrow is the day I'm hoping. All I have to do it rebolt the transmission on, and throw the motor back in.

Are you sure your car will make it, because I don't think I have faith that my 3gee would even make it.
You don't have cruise control either. I think we should take my 98 accord with cruise control, A/C, comfortable seats, cupholders, comfy ride, 40mpg.... :help:
P.s. Will I go deaf riding in your gutted hatch with the loud exhaust?

Why don't we just take both cars, and make a road trip out of it? I'm really wanting to throw my car on the dyno, and see what my 1/4 miles times are.
I'm nearly 100% positive that if I can get the motor back in it I can make it to Portland no problem though. It sees much worse at the autox's.

I can't afford the gas. I barely have enough to go. I'm taking $150.00 so I hope thats enough to play, eat, and hotel. We just need to have a plan just in case it breaks down. I just worry too much. I'll bring some tools, Mainly the ones used on 3geez, and we'll take some spare oil, water, anti freeze, make sure the spare is good, etc.

I'm definitely bringing my tool bag, and I'm gonna go take the car out for a decently long drive after I get everything put back together to make sure it's all good to go.
The reason I'm not worried about anything breaking is thanks to my dad and over engineering everything I have him make for me. I kinda picked up on it, so I go overboard with repairs making sure something like that never breaks again. Aside from the motor mount issue I've never had a single thing on this car break.
This time that stupid L bracket is getting tack welded to the block. Little bastard isn't gonna fall off again. :rocket:

You're foot will be tired after 7 hours of driving there lol. Just kidding, we'll switch off driving.
Can you weld metal to cast iron?

not really, no. You can weld cast to cast, or steel to steel. I'm just gonna have my dad tack weld the bolts in place so they can't back themselves out again. I'd use the red threadlocker, but I'd rather have the peace of mind of welding them in. Especially since there's no reason at all to have that bracket be removable. It's not in the way of anything.
Damn Honda for being dumbasses on some things.

lol, no. Do you?
edit: you may very well go deaf in my car. Either I'm going deaf, or the exhaust isn't at loud as it used to be though. We also need to talk to 2ndGenGuy and find out where he lives if we're staying at his house the night before the meet.
