Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
love the progress man. keep it up. also a few questions. I forget but are you going obd1? if so ditch most of that black box stuff. I only kept i think 2 things out of it.
Your oil cooler feed plate, is it one with a thermal valve? if not get one of those and be sure to prime the lines before you turn the engine over. Last thing did your fuel pump relay have a oem style plug on it? much jealous lol

Yes going OBD1 it's the best choice. Not sure if it has a thermal valve I'll check into that it's got a oil pressure sensor in an oil temperature sensor on the other side. The relay no oem plug after putting it together I noticed that had 2 little prong clips and I seen in the how to that the connector was just cut off. So it made it where I didn't have to cut anything just plug it inn

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
Having no power to the pump issues. Pump only pumps after the starter disengages. It usually clicks on and off when you first turn the key on. I've replaced the main relay does the same thing. Had this problem before a couple years ago I replace the main relay and ignition switch. So I ordered another ignition switch hopefully this fixes my problem

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
The ECU is supposed to control the fuel pump priming. My first thought is maybe a dirty contact in the ignition switch is intermittently not powering the ECU up. Does the CEL blink on/stay on/not turn on when you first click the key on?

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
I suspected it would be the main relay I jump the relay and the pump works great. After replacing the main relay it did the same thing no pump priming when you first turn the key on. ECU was showing code 6. Replace that sensor to day and no codes

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
I forgot to add one thing I was messing with it today and I don't know if the alternator has anything to do with the fuel pump coming on. But I wiggled the main wire off the alternator and I could hear the injectors clicking on and off multiple times. Like it's supposed to do when you first turn the key on. The car ran for like 10 minutes before it cut off .

You can't have too many gauges.

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
Messed with the car a little bit today put the key on turn it to the first click it's working. Car runs for 10 minutes then dies. Try it again turn the key on no power to the fuel pump. Same with the key on it starts going crazy and clicking on and off multiple times sending too much signal to the fuel pump on and off. So I think the ECU is bad went and ordered another one. Took the old ECU park looks pretty clean. Running Outta ideas

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
I had a freshly rebuilt P06 ECU die after 2 months of use. It's certainly possible shit can die randomly like that.

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
Yeah I think the ECU is toast .on the backside of the board every place that the board grounds to the housing there's black dots

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build
Took the board completely out off ECU cleaned a little corroded areas that I seen. An applied silver thermal compound to all the connectors that screw and hold the board to the ECU casing .Put the ECU back in now it's running great was even able to drive it

Re: 86 Honda Accord turbo build

Thanks man. I had the thermal compound left over from when I tried to do the Xbox 3 Ring of Death repair. It was definitely the ECU. Cars running better than ever

:lol:Yeah years ago I think I paid $14 for the tube at Radio Shack . I think I'm going to do a write-up how to possibly fix your ECU
