6geez in neutral :D......thats the highest I went though.
7850 in an 88 lx
Why so high? A20 does not make power that high..
its fun... lol... sounds like an F1 car after 6500
Travis
I got my LX up to 6000 rpm once and it's an auto!
not to deal w/ the 3g. but i took our auto legend out and was bouncing it off the rev limiter all the time. that thing flys.
Hmmm, wonder why...Quote:

3g - 5800
buick - 3500
bike - 7800
Ive taken mine to 6300 pretty much everytime ive raced but my friend bounced the rpm around 7600 (i think) when he tried to race with it cuzz it had a bad clutch and he mis shifted....never let him race again..lol
I redlined twice with my old engine and bent some valves. If you think it's fun surpassing the 6300 rpm limit on your A20, wait until you put a "new" engine in. See how fun that will be.
I put it daily close to the redline... just before the rev limiter kicks in :)
my 89 lxi 6,300 rpm's in drive
in nuetral 7,200 rpm's
i take it close to redline every day..when going from first to second and second to third i usually dont shift until 6k.
i want like a few inches over the redline one time with my automatic. sometimes it dont shift when its supposed to. and it has no rev limiter. whoooooohoooo. its cool when ur friend is watching ur revs go over wut their supposed to.
recent was about 8,500.... I downshifted a bit too far and knocked it into 2nd. When I released the accelerator pedal... I probably went off the scale on my vacuum guage with the throttle closed, but I wasn't looking.
Valvoline vr1 or mobile 1 super syn 20w 50 is the only way to fly.
I just installed a K&N performance oil filter too... which is nice cause it doesn't let the oil drain back. My Oil PSI guage rises quicker... so I know I'm getting lubed at start up better then i was before.
How high does your bike redline? I like takin mine to about 13,000 RPMs :).Quote:

I dunno how high ive gone on the 3G. As far as an auto carbed 3g will let you go in d4. stupid automatic...
tim
I wish i had a motor in my 3G that would wind out past 10K without imploding. Wouldnt that sound nice? Maybe i can pick up an F1 motor at a junk yard and do a motor swap. I'd kick everybodies ass!
RWD V8 honda revving out to 10K. Now THATS a mod!! :super: And to top it off, i'd RICE the F**K out of it just for humor sake. An F1 wing on the back of my couple would look pretty nice! Oh and cant forget the front wing as well!
hmm i havent really raced much but when i get on it driving i will shift at like 5500,
the highest i have taken my car was like 6500 doing a burnout after my car got broken into!
7k on my old carbed 3g with my cam regrind...
haha i'm the pathetic one! i've only made it to 4500, but that's good for me! hehe maybe when i get a few more mods done i'll be willing to go higher, but i chicken out and get scared! (at least i'm honest so don't laugh too hard at me! ;) )
6,500rpm.. yeh.. i tapped the rev limit a few times..
in my lxi.. oh i have hit 7k.. but i dunno if it was that something went on wack bcuz it jumped from 6,5k and tapped 7k.. this was between a shift thou.. not with the motor on load..
I've been up past 7k soem but it feels liek crap once you get into redline, all the power drops off and its bad for the car so there is no point.
7000rpm with a stock automatic in 2nd gear. I did that once when a was pasting a person on a country road.
This is why ur parents don't let u drive the car!Quote:

Fuel injected models cut off at 6500 rpm. If it seemed as you hit higher rpms in a fuel injected model its because the tach isn't completely accurate.
Thank You.. First post that makes sence! 7k on an Se-i?Quote:

like it will be at 6,500 tappin the rev limit and sometimes it will shoot to 7k but go back done.. as if it was a glitch or something..
has me confused:confused:

WHen I hit the rev limiter the tach is at about 7k. I have the original Honda repair manual that states fuel injected models cut fuel off at 6500 rpm to prevent engine damage.
The reason it seems as though everyones hitting 7k is because the tach is not extremely accurate.
Thats why you buy an autometer tach... :D
