Alright, i believe it's my turn to host a meet. Anyway, theres this awesome place called the Azusa Canyon around my house, and i know of the perfect place to meet there. Great photo-op area, and fun to drive around. This place is called Glendora Mountain Road, or GMR for short. Its a series of tight turns and is a blast to drive..

Anyway, here's a video going DOWN GMR from the meeting place that i've decided upon, which is actually at the top of GMR..

Adrian took a few pics as well, he might post them up.. Anywho, we can have a barbeque up there, but we need a permit.. Don't worry about that though, me or Adrian will pick one up.

Alright, so i was thinking it would work like this; We'd meet up at my house around 10:30-11:00, and once everyone showed up (ON TIME!! i don't want to wait around!) we'd caravan up to the place.

The date is not decided upon yet, but you WILL need to request the whole day off from work. It will be on a saturday or sunday though, that's for sure.

I'll say this again though, if you say you're going to come, you NEED to be here on time. My house is not hard to find, even adrian said so and it was his first time down here.

My house is really simple to find.. It's the second house on the left once you turn off of gladstone, and there will be a white convertible mustang in the front, unless it gets sold.. But either way you'll see my accord parked in the drive-way, and if my mom is home there will be a silver 2001 Eclipse in the driveway.

But anyway! So when should we do this? And can you make it ON TIME?

...im thinking 10:30am.

(Only reason i want to meet earlier is for good pictures, and because the canyon isn't a good place to be when its dark..)

EDIT: OH! And since it will be ALL uphill on the way to the meet spot, you might want to have a full tank of gas before you leave the house. It'll use around a quarter tank maybe, depending on your car's mods.. You might also want to be sure to have a spare tire with you incase theres any sharp rocks or anything on the road.

anyway! dude you guys have to come, you dont understand how freaking fun it is to drive up there! oh and i cannot say anything and i mean anything bad about the downhill. its a complete adrenaline rush. anyway, just like cory said, you have to be there on time, i think we should leave around 11am so thats how much time you will have to get there. even though its just a staright road to get there, its kinda hard to find unless mapquest can help out. lol. anyway! click on the video link if you havent already, i know its a big file for some of you (19.something megs) but....its awesome

I warn you NOW, you NEED to be careful!! I wouldn't personally exceed 30mph on any of the turns. One wrong move or patch of dirt and its off the side of the mountian you go!!! And theres no coming back from there!!

And i was thinking more along the lines of 10:30 am just so everyone can be there by 11 and we can be up at the mountain by 12 at the latest...

past 30mph? lool a good driver who is experienced at these things can drive this place fairly fast given the right car too.

My old car lived for this stuff. I wanted to run GMR one day with good ole blue but never got a chance to drive down to LA to visit.

Hes right about the turns there towards the bottom its mostly hairpins on GMR, it is no joke when i was going to glendora high school 8 kids died 8 different times up there.Since the late 80's 45 kids have died trying to out drive "The Road".

it is a dangerous road. I've been on that road before so I know how difficult and technical the road is. As long as people know the limits of the car and the limits of themselves and not reach those limits, it will be fun!


Just happens some people's limits are alot higher so they seem like they are going much faster but they aren't pushing themselves. It's like weightlifting, some peple can bench alot more without breaking a sweat. just takes practice =)


I would love to drive that road in my car again..perhaps this winter. hehe

Yeah, the top isnt too bad, but you still need to be careful. Theres a few straights going through it, but theres some pretty sharp turns at the end of em.

What you need to do is look WAY ahead, while also trying to watch out for obstacles in front of you...

Derek, you should bring your civic down when we have this meet. We wouldn't shun you just because you drive a civic. :)

We haven't thought about a date yet though.. I guess i'll just try to think one up and i'll throw it around a little.

Anyone have any idea on a good day? Im open for suggestions....

I duno. I was driving to this free concert thing with my gf's friends in the back and we were driving on this really shitty freway... Tehre was lots of large bumps and i think they might have gone out because of it.

All i know is it seems like the rear sits lower than it did now. :(

the struts/shocks themselves shouldnt make the car sit lower. The springs are the only thing that effect ride height. The struts just create up and down resistance so the springs dont conitinue to bounce once you hit a bump. Something else has to be the problem. Maybe you just asumed something would be wrong after you hit those dips and your mind is playing tricks on you thinking its now sitting lower, now that you actually paying attention to it lol. Nah seriously though i do that shit all the time. Damn mind lol..

Hmm. I see... Well, what would bend in the suspension maybe causing it to sit lower? Because i think it used to sit higher.. If i remember correctly i thought i could put my finger in between the tire and the wheel well.. But now i cant.

Well! Bad news for me at the moment.. I just found out i had a blown head gasket. Yay! :\

The gasket is going to get replaced for 700$.. It's never been replaced so hopefully after its been replaced it'll run good again. Though i probably wont be modding it anymore just because the car doesnt seem like it can handle it. I'm actually thinking of getting a new car now. :(

Yeah. I duno why it went out though. Its the original gasket and the car has 127k miles on it. It was probably just a bad gasket. I'm probably still going to finish the exhaust, but after that i duno.

im going up to hollywood to mr. big cheese's house to pick up my new suspension...well not new..fairly used. im going to take my car down to the shop where i get all my shit done for free and have them put it on while i work. even though i should do it myself just because i want the knowledge, but its freeeeeeee. so have them do it. lol

Sweetness. I ordered some Crane Cams ignition wires and bought some Splitfire spark plugs. Thsoe will hopefully be in by the meet. :)

Also, im putting my original box back on. I dont want to, but it's probably for the best.. Though i'm going to miss my CAI/short ram. :(

Yeah. I dont know. Heh. Im thinking about trying a few things.. It's mainly my friend who wants me to do it and since he bought the car for me i feel i should listen to him.

But anyway, when you put that plastic cover on, i remember how you said "Its just plastic, you can push the screws in"... No you cant, and thats why the same thing that happened to me happened to you earlier on. Theres a metal bracket that the screws go in to. Thats another reason my cover came off on the freeway other than my broken bolt, lol.

On another subject.. The plugs cost me about 20$ and the wires cost me 17$. Pretty good deal i guess.. Im just hoping the plugs and wires work well. I'd hate to have wasted that money.

Good news! It wasnt a head gasket. Turns out the valves havent been cleaned or worked on at all since 100k.. I'm at 127k and they're supposed to be checked every 15k. Heheh. The car runs like a champ now other than its still idling a little hard. Theres one small problem that needs fixing but it can wait.. I will be installing my new plugs tomorrow maybe, and depending on if im up to it or not i might put the normal carb box back on.

Oh well. I'm ready for the meet though!!

I need me some strut bars. I can literally HEAR my chassis flex sometimes when im going over an uneven grade like a driveways (crooked, to keep from scraping).

Anywho, i got my spark plugs in today. It was my first time so i was really scared about cross-threading them... Though i was scaring myself on the first plug and it took forever to do, lol. I kept thinking i was going to cross thread so i kept pulling the plug out and checking and putting it back in, pulling it out, etc. lol. The last 3 were fast though.

Unfortunately i think my spark plug wires (not the new, the old. i havent gottent he new ones yet) are shot. Alteast one.. The little connector on the end wouldnt clip on right without messing with it for a few minutes. I didnt know this until the car was backfiring, which was causing me to freak out thinking i did something wrong, lol. But it was just the wire, thank god.

Anywho, i got it on there and the throttle response seems improved. My hard idle is still there and i really think my motor mounts might just be bad, but its not easy to check.

Saving the air box for another day.

well i guess ill share what ive done to the car too, i just finish putting my header on yesterday, im going to buy a front strut bar next week, im finishing my tails tomorrow and i might try adn repaint my rims next week :rockon:
