jdm headlights anyone????
I was wondering of any of you US guys ever got a hold of the sealed headlights from Japan????
My wife use to have a 85 LX in the early 90's and I always though how great that car would look with them. So if any of you guys got em post up some pics.
These are the ones Im talking about.

^^^ UGH read the thread location. 2geez.com. We're talking about JDM headlights, not those silly corner lights... :D
I've been trying to get my hands on those lights for my car for like 4 or 5 years but I've had a hell of a time... Got a couple deals in the works, been simmering in the pot for a while. Those headlights were also on the European 2gee Accords as well.

Re: jdm headlights anyone????

Did you even see the picture? says "JDM" on the headlight

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Well I remember runnign into a couple when I was looking for one piece jdm headlights for my 4th gen accord on ebay. I just wanted to know if anyone had accomplished getting a set.
I think if we would have gotten those front lights the Accord would have had much better sales.
If I run into some i'll make sure I post.

I thought that you are trading the lights from that Bob dude from Malaysia?

Yeah, I don't know what happened with him... Haven't heard from him. If anybody finds a source, hook me up!!
BTW, I think the Accord did quite well as it was... Its what got Honda's US factory rolling. Honda may not have continuted plants here in the US if the Accord hadn't done well. Besides that, it is styled quite well with the rest of the 80's cars. :)

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
well the 84-85 model years is when they started gettign more refined. smoother bumbers and more refind front end. My 85 lx had all the powers except efi. I remember how I hated that carb! lol
I had a 78 cvcc hatch and I never did like the front end. I did have plans for it though. lol
I remember they use to make a nice spoiler and front air dam for the 1st gen hatch but have not found any pics of em.

Looking for parts?
If you have Google Earth, go to
31 degrees, 48', 30.41" N
106 degrees, 13', 39.97" W
Eye Elevation 8,061 ft.
One day I am gonna go here and grab every 84 85 Accord part I can extract without breaking! <G>

Re: jdm headlights anyone????

It's only 1769 miles! I've driven my car to Phoenix! It's not much further than that! :D

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
I suppose I must admit I could get the one piece headlights here easily enough if needed. Not that I've ever tried sending a package anywhere to know whats involved on that....
& I still reckon you'd be better of getting some LHD ones from Europe... probably be closer too...

Problem is that I haven't run into anybody who has the one piece headlights AND live in a country with LHD cars.
Think you could score a set of these? I'm interested.

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Might be headed to local wrecker this w/end anyway for Subaru Sherpa bits...
(Want spare Frt valance for my accord but no 1st gen there)
Will see how much & maybe take some pics...
Like I said though, I'd have no idea what transporting them would cost.
Any ideas of associated bits that may be needed/useful will be looking to include any mounting brackets but variations in Header panel, grille, bumper trims....
If it's bulky parts / simple differences you might be able to modify local bits more economically than transporting.
As far as I know our Accord spec's were relatively basic with few of the special JDM options even if their image was classier & more refined than Toyota boredom, so I'm not sure offhand if we ever got Headlight washers or anything wild like that, but doubt it. Local importers preferred to reduce/simplify model variations & specs to a 'mid range' spec.

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Man, if you find a car with power mirrors (not power folding), digital gauges, or a ceiling console snag those too!
But yeah, as far as the headlights go, I'm pretty sure that they bolt right up to my chassis. At least that's from what I've seen. So all I'd need are the headlight housings. It might be nice to get the connectors for the headlights too, and if the bulbs are in them, those too just for reference.
I will pay shipping, just lemme know the cost. I'm not expecting you to eat that cost by any means.

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
If you go to Google Earth, and put in the SEARCH box "auto parts used" or "auto salvage" or some terminology like you would see in the Yellow Pages, it will zoom in on the yards. Go to about 50,000 feet above your town and do the search thing. Let me know how you do! I think if you try it in Phoenix or Tucson where cars don't rust, you can see some big yards!

Hmm... I'm going to be going to Phoenix pretty soon, maybe I should hit the wreckers while I'm there!

Hi there
Here are aftermarket lights, but only one piece, (left OR right) and not really cheap:
Ebay.de, Item No. 270136964624
(100 Euro ~ 135 USD)

I can ask my German Honda guys for used stuff, if you like?

Australian Accord headlights
Ok the day was miserable & grey but I visited the a cheap local self-serve car wreaker for Australian Accord headlight photos.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...65_14_full.jpgEarly 2nd gen Accord.
http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...65_15_full.jpgLate 2nd gen Accord Hatch

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...65_21_full.jpgLate 2nd gen Accord Sedan Tailight
Judging from the cars at the wreakers we didn't get any of the more interesting options here like Digital dash, roof consoles, electric mirrors, or even ALB, rear disc's & sunroofs like Europe, just the Carburettored 1.8 engine & power windows...

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Nice pics!
What you call 'early 2nd gen' is model "SY" (1981-83) in Europe.
The late 2nd gen. is AC /AD (1983-85) here and got the pulled down bonnet only in Hatchback version.

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Yep, those are some great reference pics. Looks like the Japanese and European models even have different grilles. But it looks like the sheet metal is exactly the same, I noticed the notches on my car, behind the headlights, for the non-US headlight adjusters from inside the car. I wondered why those were shaped like that... now I know...

I still want them! :) I was just waiting for you to let me know when you were ready to ship them so you could get me a price...
If I wind up with 2 sets when all is said and done, that's okay with me. :)

Cool !
Can ship anytime really, was waiting till you had $$$ available for all the stuff. Didn't want to have everything parcelled up to be told 'no can do'. Although I will still have to find out about shipping costs.
Will need to recap on everything so nothing is missed out...
:)

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Oh really? Then yes & yes to both questions !
PM me if you like & we'll sort something out. You're now at an advantage with the exchange rate, what with the Pound continuing to fall in value against the Dollar.

Nope. None in my locale at all, even in scrapyards - 2geez are a rare car here - Australia would be your best bet to find hatch ones.

Re: jdm headlights anyone????
Yeah the 2.5geez are different between hatches and sedans. Not so with the 82-83 models, they're the same.
