ill kiss you on the forehead if you supply some info lol
hahahaha
I am working on getting a deal going atm-this is a japanese part thats going to take some work to get so please give me some time,in the end we will have a full-bodied coilover for (hopefully) under $700
36 different damping settings, multiple valving options for street/track use-optional camber plates etcetc
More info when they call me back, and no I dont have pictures atm
Camber plates don't work with double wishbone suspensions.
thread fail
sounds exciting, though a bit anti-climactic ;)
not giving out any more info, someone ruined our chances at a group buy for something I was trying to get last time-so until I get things sorted you not getting anything else other than that they will be in the $650-800 range
The only thing I would like to know is if the manufacturer is a top-tier manufacturer, or if they're someone we've never heard of. I know name isn't everything, but it helps.
let the man work out things first....shit half of us just have stupid tokicos
2drse-i is hooking me up with a mint one in the box and everything :)
Sounds good man.
today is tomorrow. whatchu got?
...amen to messy for finally calling toki's stupid. ...aka, stupid idea for anything other then bone-stock, or cut bone-stock springs.
let us know when you have something.
Im in no hurry here wpro, do your thing man! You may have two cookies once this pans out.
PM me if you get something going im looking for a decent setup so im interested in seeing some specs but i will definately spend the cash on a decent setup.
In for updates... I am somewhat interested.
Not sure if anyone noticed but D2 now shows our application and a special on Honda Tech is running $795 plus $89.95 for a wholesale membership program that you have to sign up for so around $900 you can get them.
I wanted to see how Legend Master liked his setup but i have not seen any feedback over time. Im definately considering getting them but i want to see what comes out of this post.
Well here it goes
The Coilovers are K-sports-whats funny is they have the same part numbers as D2 except its KS-H110-4,K-sport has NOT updated there site as of yet on these but they will soon
K-sports will run a bit cheaper I have been quoted $750 shipped -3% if I can get 10 or more people to buy, whether or not you guys want to go through with this its up to you-IF there's enough interest I will talk to the guy that's helping me out and we will get the ball rolling-really interesting they have the same part # though
I appreciate your efforts and i would like to see if anyone has personal experience with either of these setups? Any input is appreciated since im looking for a decent ride rather than get stuck with something i don't like.
I went and rode in my buddy's civic earlier today and hes running k-sports for about 1year or so now-rode pretty decently and they seem to have held up well imo
man I'd be down for a set of these. My car needs lowering bad, and I want something better than tokicos and eibachs.
K-sports are crap, though.

Im assuming the D2's are another line that they carry or vise versa? Im glad you posted that Vanilla Sky because if this is the case i might just bite the bullet and pay to have my Koni's re-done and get the ground controls.
No, d2's are a different 'brand' but they're all from the same coilover manufacturer.
AMR, function/form, d2, ksport and probably a couple others.
If there's no other options, I guess it's ok, but revalved konis will obliterate this stuff. These cheaper coils are undervalved (and needle valved, so you adjust compression and rebound at the same time) vs konis which (at their cheapest adj. level) are single adjustable (either comp or rebound; I think rebound).
I'd imagine Tokicos with coilovers would do alright, as long as you don't go with a very stiff spring.
I think im leaning on doing my Koni's over even though its going to cost a lot plus the cost of the Ground Controls but i rode in 88Lxi68's car and he has this setup with a stiffer spring rate. I was just looking for a full bodied coil over but this seems to be my best option other than the down time and expense.
I know Tokicos aren't meant for anything more than a one inch drop. I'm not really into it for a drop, but for corner weighting.
Under racecar circumstances yes these may not be the best coilovers-but I seriously don't think these company's would campaign there own racecars if they where dangerous to ride on,I have seen bilsteins and konis fall apart before on cars-so does that mean there quality sucks? no probably not
and why even compare them to high dollar setups-I bring my point up again-how many people are really going to shell out over $1k on struts/coilovers/springs on a car they probably $1k for?
Link to koni's falling apart?
Most companies don't run off-the-shelf setups on their demo/racecars.
My brother in law has/had ksports on his Maxima. The car cornered great and rode pretty decent, but he has had to replace 2 due to them blowing out. 1 rear and 1 front. I guess there was a known problem on the rears. His car was not dumped and he probably had less then 10k on them. He has not put them back on his car and is thinking of going with an illumina and eibach setup.
what do yall think is better KYB or Tokicos? i want to do a 2 in. or 2.5in drop
...or not.
lxaccord --> Welcome to the board. If you search around, there's a bunch of threads where people ask this same question, and for the amount of threads you come up with, you'll probably get that many different answers too.
Here's the deal with that. Unless you're getting Eibach's, the ONLY springs you could safely put either the Toki's or GR-2's with are bone stockers. Even having said that, either of those struts will only work well with Eibachs in the rear, DEF not the front. Check out the stickied threads at the top of this (the suspension) sub-forum, there's all the specs, recommendations, and what should/shouldn't be paired with what.
K sports coilovers here:

translation? lol
there is a link on that site to KSport USA. If Im reading right they say 1300 us for a set.
thats MSRP-should be more around $750-$850 from what I was quoted
yep. I honestly would go D2 because they're exactly the same thing, and if I'm not mistaken, the K-sports are made by D2. I guess it all comes down to if you would prefer purple or orange.
However, do not just order straight from a catalog. You can request these in specific rebound rate/spring rates.
If it just comes down to color, due to them being the same. Id have to go with the K's. I wouldnt want to rock a set of purple struts. Now thats just me. From the text and pics they have of them. IMO they hands down whoop the curent strut opp. that we have.
i'm gonna stick with my Koni's and Progress spings.
get them revalved and get some GC coilovers.
even the konis might end up costing just as much when you get them done.....i want better adjustability
adjustability is nice, but racetrack stiff is all im after. im not trying to play with the stiffness all the damn time. i just want it solid. permanently. that's why i love the Koni's.
So does anyone have a link or email for the company or person to get the coilovers from. I'll make the jump on buying a set since re valved struts and GCs are almost the same price.
actually, if you went D2, it should only cost you about 1K all told. ...and if you reach out to D2 directly, although it might cost a few extra $$ you can specify the lb ratings you want on the springs and ensure that they valve the shocks accordingly. D2 use to be garbage, but the newer generations of their coilovers are actually getting decent reviews as of late. ....and at 1K, that's about $400 less that what you're going to spend just in getting the shocks revalved, not even counting the cost to buy a set of Koni cores (that'll run you about $300-400) and a set of springs or sleeve coil-overs (another $200-350).
I couldn't find anything on the D2 but I did find the Ksport. The part # is CHD240-KP. Spring rate front: 12/672 and Rear:7/392. 672 seems to be pretty stiff for the front. I asked for pricing on HT so I'm awaiting on PMs for pricing. Ksport retail is $1300. Hopefully they'll be alot cheaper from the retailers.
So far I've seen the Ksport coilovers for $897.00
The other set up I was going for was for the Koni Yellow sport and GC's sleeves. The lowest quote I got was $800 shipped. Thats not revalved so how ever much extra it'll cost for that will bring me close to the Ksport coilovers. The question is which one will be better. The Ksports have the adjustable dampner so they are up one on that.
O.K. Got some more pricing today. Its down to $760 shipped.
which is less than half of what the Koni setup will cost you.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I can get it down alittle more. Each one of the distributors are saying if I find a lower price they'll match or beat the price the other vendor gives.
Just understand though, that with the K-Sports or the D2's, you're getting a street suspension only. I would not suggest racing on these until they've been put through their paces a bit more on the open circuits.
Definitly wont be racing the 3g. Its basically for commuting back and forth to work. I'll have an eg hatch that I'll be building for nasa.
What do you mean your running full stiff? What is adjustable on you set up? Also what are your spring rating?
I see. How do you like the stiffness of the springs? Would you want the spring ratings to be stiffer? The ksports come 637 in the front. The distirbutor said I can change the spring ratings as long as they have them in stock. Now I just need to figure what spring ratings I'll be happy with.
Lets Us know who you buy from for the cheaper price!!! I would love a full bodied coilover setup!!!Quote:

So its down to $750. I wonder if we'd have enough people for a group buy.
