If you need a place to crash Friday that is closer to Portland, my house is open to all.

My house is just a little bit off the road, so just go down Cedar Flats Rd until you get about 500 feet from the end. On the right, you will see a bright blue house, turn down that gravel road, and go past the blue house. My house is the green one on the right with the U shaped driveway. We'll be leaving my house around 7:30-8:00am, so be prepared to wake up early! :D

Anyways, I'm starting a quick thread here to see who would be interested in a mid-summer meet up for the Pacific Northwest? Anybody from elsewhere is welcome to come too, but didn't think anybody would want to drive that far.

The idea is to get a REAL meet together. Where people actually show up this time! :beer:

The ideas thus far are:

Location: Somewhere central
Things to do: BBQ, Dyno, 1/4 Mile, other idears?

I'm thinking Portland. It's central and probably the only place we'll find Dynos and/or a place to run the 1/4 mile. Seattle is not really central IMO, but I dunno.

It would be nice if someone could volunteer to host it at their house. If nobody in Portland can do it, I'd do it at my house in Olympia. There is a dyno in town, and if we can organize a group session of 10 people we can get 3 pulls for $50. I also have 2 acres where we can have a bonfire, BBQ, and enough parking. Olympia is fairly central too...

Anyways, if you're interested post up your ideas. I just kinda wanted to get the ball rolling. If you guys like the idea of meeting in Olympia, I'm all for it, there just may not be a chance to hit up the 1/4 mile, unless we meet at Pacific Raceways early in the morning.

John sound like a plan bro...we dont need the 1/4 thing. BUt would be sweet. A good photo shoot for the calander would be SWEET. I think it would be cool to be at Olympia. but lets see where it other 3geezers would like...Maybe chris house its only what a 45 min drive to portland...

It'd be better to piggyback onto a dyno day that was already happening. I'll see if I can get one on the schedule at Unnatural in Beaverton.

Plus there's late night drags in pdx on fri/sat nights, so if nothing else many weeks in the spring/summer work.

Drags are $8 to spectate, $25 to run (and I think you pay a $10 one-time fee to register your name/number for the season), so $35? Not sure if these prices are still the same, just what I remember them being.

They have a dynojet (highest whp number! lol). Usually it's 3 pulls for $35-60 (depending on what they say), w/o wideband.

sounds good to me.... The last time i went to pir was awhile back and it was 35 altogether so...dyno price sound pretty good also...O man i cant wait lol...

I can do it. I don't mind at all. Unless someone comes up with a better plan, or someone else wants to volunteer. I'm sure we could organize something at HP Connection in Olympia, or Pacific Raceways is only 45 minutes from my place. We could just caravan up there.

There doesn't need to be a host, just a couple activities.

There's always the sykart option (indoor karting), as well. My friend is a manager there, I'll see if he could cut us a deal for a group rate.

i think beaverton would prolly be a lil too far me...

im down for a meet in olympia, but it would be hella closer if it was in bellingham! :cheers:

well, im from oklahoma, just got to whidbey island back in oct. but i came to seattle about a year and a half ago to see me special lady friend and we took a ferry to bainbridge island.

Yeah I think something in Portland would work best. Especially since Alex may be able to get decent rates on dyno pulls and maybe a little tiny discount off go karting which would be great.

We can do dyno in the morning, grab lunch and hang out, go kart racing etc, snag dinner and then go to PIR for late night drags.

well for anybody insane enough to drive that far for a 3geez meet, i have a guest room that i am willing to offer up, and if multiple crazies make long journeys i have plenty of floor space if you bring sleeping bag lmao.

my car actually drives good enough to make it to portland at the moment, but will hopefully be tuned NA by summer, maybe even further along than that??

+1 - I'm only an hour north of Chris' house, so if you guys need some overflow lodging, or want to save an hour driving northward or whatever, I can accommodate as needed as well.

Dyno days aren't planned 3-4 months in advance, more like 3-4 weeks.

Not sure what else is going on that weekend. If there's a drift event, it probably wont' be happening. I'll see what I can find. They're not going to do a full-blown dyno day for a few old accords, that much I know.

yeah they make you have a battery kill. not sure if you need alternator kill as well. i installed my switch, but if you hit the switch the car still runs. just won't RE start since there is no power to the starter etc. but obviously my alternator works fine heheh... batt kill without an alt kill just seems so pointless. which means i have to buy another switch

I can't get you discounts on carts, and I doubt there will be a dyno day this summer. If one of you is that intent on setting up a dyno day you should make appointments now for your shop of choice, and just do it that way.

Does it have to be an external kill switch? Or can it be inside the car?

Probably $30 -- that's what it usually is. That's for three pulls. $10 extra to have wideband and $50 to have a wb bung welded in -- if you need that you should be there early to get it done.

Okay, I e-mailed the PIR staff to see if it would be possible to sort of make PIR our meet up point. I hope to hear back from them today or tomorrow. I thought that would be the most logical thing to do. You would of-course have to pay an entry fee to get into the track whether you race or not. But we had to pay to reserve a spot a the park last time, so I think that is a reasonable deal. It might make the official meet time closer to the evening, and if you want to show up to the Dyno before hand, we'll set a time for that too. My hope is that we can just hang at PIR and BS for a while until the drags actually start, instead of trying to find and reserve a meet spot that isn't at the track.

Well hell, I don't know what's near by.

What time do we need to show up for the dyno day? I'm just trying to figure out all options for the logistics of this, so we can have a set schedule for the day. Otherwise people will get lost, frustrated and wind up going home.

Oh, yeah, there's a strip mall down the street, a burger king that has a decent sized lot, a sharis, a baxter's auto parts.

Way easier than setting up anything with PIR.

edit: dyno days usually start at 10-11am and last until they're done. Drags start at 6 or 7 and go til 11?

What's the address and name of the shop the Dyno is at?

I've got a friend coming with his MR2, so as long as we have Rendon, Me, Chris, and my buddy, we'll have 5 cars, since I've got someone driving my other Accord down too. Sounds like we should easily have more though if half the people here show through.

This dyno day is a general one, doesn't require a minimum number to participate as there will be plenty of other cars running, I'm sure.
