Bisimoto Engineering - Group Buys

As some of you may have noticed, Bisimoto has offered to make Cam gears for us. This is a reply i got from Justin@bisimoto

I spoke to Bisi this morning about this matter and this is what I was told.

The designs for the A-series cam gears are near completion. If 20 people can commit to purchasing these cam gears then we can go ahead and put them into production.

For the intake manifold gaskets, we do not have any currently available for the A-series motors. If 50 people can commit to purchasing these gaskets Bisi said that he would design and produce the gaskets.

So I want to know who out there is interested in getting a cam gear or heat shielded intake manifold gaskets. Remember its 20 for the gears, 50 for the gaskets.
Bisimoto asks for a 75% deposit, which would be 101.25, and after the cam gears are made, another 33.75+shipping (I assume 135 is not the shipped price) will be due.

Oh, the shipped price on the intake manifold gaskets is $48

After this initial "Group buy", these parts will be available as ordered.

no its a groupe buy they need 20 people on gear and 50 people on gasket.

he said 135+shiping for gear and 48 shiped for gasket (correct me if im rong anyone)

ok so its around $200 usdm. well i need to start working overtime then if i want to get that, which i to. i should have the money by the end of next month.

Waterbury, as in Connecticut? It can't be much, cam gears are pretty small.

Alright, I will buy a cam gear and 2 gaskets 2drSE-i, but we need to start ironing out the specifics.....

So since we are paying Bisimoto ourselves, do we just tell them we are part of a group buy? Or do we need to specifically order from someone like Justin? When do we need to pay by? How long will it take until i actually GET the gear and gaskets?

Well JFern, alot of your questions I can't really answer. We will be paying bisimoto directly, not a middle man. We can discuss it with Justin. I can almost promise you it won't take months and months for us to get our parts, but it will depend greatly on when we place our order. We won't be able to pay until everyone has committed.

I will say interest in the Intake gaskets is a lot higher than i expected. 13 more cam gears and 33 more gaskets to go!

I didn't expect this kind of turnout so fast! Maybe this is how group buys need to take place around here.

Justin, if a header were to be developed, I would also expect a group buy situation. Could you ask Bisi how many headers would be required to get it off the ground? I think we'd be able to swing about 10 people in short order, maybe a few more if the timing is right.

But i do see a potential problem in the future, production is going to be up to the last person that pays (since "committing doesn't cost money) and in my experience, car guys are like musicians and can be flaky (since i am both i should know haha) so it could potentially be months and months if anyone backs out (which would SUCK).

I am suggesting that once we get close to our goal of 20 gears or 50 gaskets (since the goals might not be met at the same time) we set a date to have everyone ready to order so that we don't get "im not ready yet" or whatever (personally, i have already set the money aside so i don't f#ck it up. That way, if everyone orders within a couple of days we don't have to wait for stragglers that, unbeknownst to the forum, have not paid (thus causing a delay for those that have).

That being said, I REALLY hope everyone gets on board for this group buy, aftermarket parts are hard to come buy, and QUALITY ones are even harder to get......

wut? how is it $15 shipping? you can throw several of them into a small usps priority mail box for $9 to anywhere in us. or you could even wrap it in bubble wrap and stuff it into a priority envelope for $5. or maybe even less in one of those padded manila envelopes.

anyway, that aside, i already have an acg sitting in my closet for the last two years, but i might express interest in a gasket at some point. but don't list me just yet, as i can just drive over to bisi's later if i don't have the $$ by buy time. that aside, the gasket works by insulating the intake manifold from the hot head which can then reduce the amount of heat the intake charge is exposed to before entering cylinders. as we all know, cold air means more air. but it might be kinda negated by the manifold water jacket, so if you put one on, you might not want to hook the water back up (those hoses are a massive pain to deal with anyway).

Sounds like a good idea to me. I don't know about everyone else, but if I say to put me on a group buy list it means I already have the money in hand ready to go.

What we have done before is this:

Anyone who wants to be apart of the group by will need to send me there contact information.(name,email,contact number) You can either email,pm or call me.

Once the group buy goal has been met, I will contact everyone part of the group buy and begin to collect the resources for the items.

I have to get the specifics on the time frame but I will look into that for you and get back to you.

We could ship it in a small flat rate box....but then we couldn't fit the license plate frames and other stuff in it...:cheers:

How are those springs, btw? What kind of changes did you notice / anticipate with these?

The springs are a supporting mod. You won't notice any gains from them whatsoever. They will help you rev the engine higher, though, as long as your rods and rod bolts hold up to it.

Wrong, this gasket is for the a-series manifold. This gasket is what you will need to run a b-series manifold anyway,

I think I'm crazy though, I don't even know if I'll be able to get a 3G yet.

That sunset orange color on the F22 gear is real nice.
So gear is $150 and me living in the large puddle of water gives me an additional $20.

$170, darn. I may have to just get the gear.

What will the color be?

I'm still undecided. I may put this on hold till February.

I'll still support this group buy with my pledge to buy 2 gaskets.
