Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
What were you thinking for a location?
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Monterrey maybe... hope i have my hatch on the road and some spare time.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I am looking to make another trip to the coast. I have faith that my beater will make it.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Monterrey is a little far for us SoCal guys.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
then Cambria, CA is the only real middle place... but sadly for me 10 hours of driving in a day is a no go ...
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
SLO or Morro Bay aren't bad, that's like 5 hours each way for me. Would have to stay overnight.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I see driving is the issue here.... so i looked up Cambria as Geddy mentioned so that will be a 4 hr drive drive from Los Angeles. I was thinking that we south cal member should meet up and go all together or if you wanna drive solo. If you would like to spend the night at Cambria that's fine. I think a drive from stockon to cambria will be the same drive. Im up for a drive if you South Cal guys are. Its not often you get a north cal and south cal meet. Remember there is no set date so you will have time to save and find time. i guess there will be a discussion on when will be the date, so i think a 2 months notice will be good for everyone anyone else agree?
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I don't think that there is any good place in Cambria to have a meet though. A little farther north, there are some nice parks in San Simeon and a really nice one across PCH from Hearst Castle. There are some places that could be good in Morro Bay too. Unless someone knows of a good place in Cambria.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I just checked and SLO is actually a few minutes shorter from Stockton than Cambria. Not that I'm knocking Cambria, but there is not really that much there.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Well cant say much unless we all agree
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
BTW, ShyBoyCA6, what time frame were you thinking of?
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
The last meet was done in cambria.. The only e before was San Francisco.

-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
SLO would be great! Pretty much right in between the bay and LA. Plus it's only an hour and a half away from Santa Barbara :D
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Cambria and slo are right next to each other.. So take you pick

Is it SLO Donut Co?
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
There is a county park on HWY 1 across from Cuesta College that would be awesome if they allow that sort of thing.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
LOL my bad Jan? or Feb? if not March...the day maybe the 2nd saturday of the month?

They have awesome blueberry fritters.

Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Late April or early May would be better. The average high in March up there is 64 degrees. Much higher chance of rain also.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Slo is a good place. about 3.5 hrs from me

if were doing it that time ill prolly be meeting up with you guys as well
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
So have we made up our minds on where and when? So would it be something like this:
April 13,27th, 2013 or May 11th, 2013
SAN LUIS OBISPO At 2pm
So we got the dates and somewhat of location now we just need an address for the meet! So did read something about a Donut shop? lets get some addresses to get everything ready and prepare for it.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I vote May 11 they say the avg temp is around 71*
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I agree with Messy on May 11. I was going to check on a county park up there with a great place to have a BBQ. The donut shop doesn't have much parking, but it may be a place some people want to stop. I can get the address, it's near Foothill and Chorro. I'll check on that and the park this weekend. If anyone else has any ideas on a spot, please chime in also.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
we can all meet at Santa Rosa Park. they have BBQ pits but if its less than 10 people we don't have to make a reservation.
Santa Rosa and Oak, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Ok Sounds good is there a place to buy the food?
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
That sounds good if we have that few people. I also checked on the county regional park and their smallest picnic area is for up to 45 people and costs $60 to reserve, which isn't bad, but I doubt we will get that many.
-

There are plenty of places to buy food near there. It's not far from the donut shop mentioned earlier and that is in the same parking lot as Albertsons.
-

Oh ok cool. So how many are going? So far its what?...5 people?

Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I've been needing to chime in this thread. When I was doing strictly CD Accord meets, we use to have summer meets in Pismo. We thought that was a nice meeting point for the guys from the bay and those from SoCal. In addition to that, it had nice places to stay, outlets for those with girlfriends, horseback riding, ATV's, and we could park on the actual beach. Below are bullet points to links that will direct you to the appropriate information that was put together for the meet when we did have it.
- Caravan Information from SoCal
- Caravan Information from NorCal
- Pictures from 2009
- Pictures from 2010
A picture of some of the cars on the actual sand making for picturesque photos.

If you guys are up for it, I'm sure C.A.M. would be glad to pay half, if not all, of that cost. 45 People sounds very reasonable. I'm just unsure if you would all like for this to just be a 3geez exclusive type of get together, because if so, I wouldn't want to infringe.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
lol I would never diver my car on the sand at pismo. Don't get me wrong pismo is great place just not for a Honda meet. if were take trucks ill have homies come out and ill be ridding in this. lol

Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
The beach is cool too. It's only like 10 minutes from SLO. Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't be opposed to opening it to other generations. Here is the link to the regional park in SLO: http://www.slocountyparks.com/activities/el_chorro.htm. They also have camping there if anyone doesn't want to drive back at night (much cheaper than a motel) Pismo does also.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I would not take my car on the sand...so the beach can be crossed off unless its on the parking lot. i just dont think hondas look good on the sand. from the looks of the pic there are more trucks and not alot of accords. I'm actually gonna be leaving the same day but at a later time when the meet ends would be a good drive back with no traffic. 4 hours aint a problem for me since i would drive from torrance to Palm desert and its about the same time, maybe more. If you guys wanna go on the sand thats fine with me :) but my car will stay on asphalt lol. Scanlessfool isn't there something else in mind? there has to be something around the area with enough parking space and for that many people. im assuming there will be alot of people there on saturday since it will be spring...doesn;t really matter the year of the car after all this is a accord meet.

There are also 2 people from Facebook that responded there, but haven't posted here yet. Simon Mercado from Santa Maria and Ethan Strok from Sacramento.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
San Luis Obispo sounds good to me...I think my baby might actually make it there....I can't promise 100% but count me in just in case! Oh, and for any Stockton folks on here (I think there's one or 2 here) How long a drive is it to SLO from Stockton? I'd be coming from Natomas (North Sac) and to be honest I'm a bit of a wuss about long trips with the 1g so I'm just trying to get an idea of how long it takes... She doesn't mind average trips (20-30) miles at highway speeds but I haven't brought her out on a LONG drive for quite a while. My broke ass can't afford the AAA "Hotel and a towtruck" luxury treatment if I have troubles on the way. LOL

I'll be honest, I'm extremely bias and just love the location. Considering the guys I went with are much lower than the majority and have our own cars more modified, I don't agree with the sentiments of everyone being afraid of being on the sand, but I can understand. With that said, I really like Robert's suggestion of the location requiring a monetary payment for 45 people and such. It's really not that expensive at all and I'm positive you won't have that many people attend. Personally, I feel at the very most, 20 individuals would be willing to make the drive. When I use to organize it, I told everyone that you know about this such meet months in advance, so begin maintenance work immediately. I'm sure you will have people deciding not go at the last minute for one lame excuse after the other, but it's still a great trip. I must say though, the trip from SoCal is nicer than the one from NorCal.
As I had said though, if you are willing to open this up to other Accord generations, C.A.M. would be willing to make a significant monetary contribution for the reservation of a location and it would also yield a larger turn out. I think the details should be worked out in the month of December and come January, all the details should be ready so it lets people know months in advance.

I can't argue with that. I drove it 2 or 4 years ago, I can't recall, from Monterrey to SLO, it was BEAUTIFUL! I really want to make that drive one more time.

Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
We should also start thinking whlere to meet up to caravan there so no has to make the drive by themself.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
If I may recommend a location that I used when I myself use to conduct NorCalxSoCal meets. Since the 101 was the freeway that everyone from SoCal would be taking, you want to pick a location where everyone will be funneled to automatically regardless of what freeway they take. With that being said, I use to have everyone meet at 23340 Ave San Luis, Woodland Hills, CA 91364. It's a big parking lot with a McDonald's and a market so that people can buy snacks for the long trip. Also, it takes roughly 3 hours to get there.
Are you all considering staying on the 101 or will you be cutting through the 154?
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
Sounds good for SoCal. As far as NorCal I would have to say the walmart near the Monterrey plaza (San Jose 5502 Monterey Hwy, San Jose, CA 95138)would be a great place. Its really the last stop b4 you the freeways funneled other wise we would meet in Morgan Hill. This is where Messy chimes in. I also live one exit from the Oakland airport so if anyone wanted to meet sooner or needs to make a quit fix before we hit San Jose we can do that too. The drive from here to San Jose is 45mins give or take. Then from San Jose to the meet spot it says(g maps) 2 1/2hrs.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
I was probably going up on Friday if anyone is planning on going the day before. I am planning on camping at El Chorro Regional Park about 4 miles out of SLO on HWY 1. I may take 154 since it is such a beautiful drive through there, but I hate really high bridges, so we will see.

Thanks for the suggestion and i will be using this location for the people down here on So Cal that wanna go all together instead of drivnig by themselves. i would have to see what time we should gather and give enough time for people to show up and join us. Most likely we'll be taking the 101fwy i like the 154 but i wanna see the coast :) Thanks again and will update info in a lil bit.

Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
For North California Members we are going to meet in San Jose. The location is going to be 5502 Monterey Hwy, San Jose, CA in the Walmart Parking. The meet time will be 10Am on May 11, 2013. From there we will caravan to San Luis Obispo, CA. According to Google Maps it will take around 2 hours and 39 mins. By the time we get to SLO it will be lunch time.
-
Re: Attention!!! North Cali and South Cali
BTW, for those wondering, the 154 cuts through the mountains north of Santa Barbara and reconnects with the 101. It cuts off 20+ miles, but speeds are not as fast. As far as the coast, it is more scenic between Ventura and Santa Barbara than it is after Santa Barbara to the point where the 101 turns away from the coast, then you don't see the ocean again until Pismo. The 154 is very scenic itself, including a beautiful arch bridge Cold Spring Canyon Arch Bridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I don't think that there is much of a time difference, so take your pick.

As far as the coast, it is more scenic between Ventura and Santa Barbara than it is after Santa Barbara to the point where the 101 turns away from the coast, then you don't see the ocean again until Pismo. The 154 is very scenic itself, including a beautiful arch bridge
Cold Spring Canyon Arch Bridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. I don't think that there is much of a time difference, so take your pick.
We'll be cutting into the 154 to save time. Thanks for that. also wouldn't hurt to go to the casino lol Jk.
