Redoing Suspension

Im redoing my suspension. I have 2.5 dropzone springs with stock struts. Its a ight ride. i get a floaty ride and its bugs me. I dont know if u guys Gotten the KYBs GR-2s But i just bought some. And getting the swaybar endlinks on nopi.com.......

Ok i have been reading the threads on here seems like i bought the wrong struts or kybs. Alot of threads saying its not worth it. The reason i bought them is cuz my friend with a Honda civic running the sam struts with eibach lowing kit. It was the ride i was looking for stiff no bounce ride. So what u all think. WHO HAS THESE STRUTS? HOWS YOUR RIDE? FIRM? SOFT? BOUNCY? I just wanna know. Thanks.

I've got them with Tokico springs and a 1.5" drop. I am very pleased with the ride and improved handling. Stiff, but not enough to jar you out of your seat.

I was riding on GR2s awhile ago and they feel SOFT. then I installed the tokicos and it was firmer but not much more. I have yet to go back to Konis since I have the front laying around. I think its best you return those GR2s, and get some Tokico Blues and new springs because Dropzone springs give a floaty ride on any strut that isn't a Koni or revalved bilstein.

So my dropzone springs well still give me a floaty ride even with my new gr2s? Damn that would suck

I have a Tokico spring but its only a 1inch drop. wtf?


anyways, the Tokico Blues I have with the Tokico springs is a decent ride, and improves handling but there is still bounce. If you just drive the car normally, thats perfectly fine, but if you want to maximize the performance of the springs you need stiffer struts for the front at least. I personally dont like the bounce, but I dealt with it for about a year and until I get off my butt and install the konis, I'll live with it. Its not stiff at all. My roommate has Omnipower coilovers and they have a STIFF 12kg/mm 10kg/mm spring rate setup. On Mount Hamilton road, his car would be bouncing up and down while my car would be a little more smoother. Im not satifisfied with the floaty front though.



Floaty front is because the springs are too stiff for the strut. GR2 are softer than Tokico blues by 15%. You decide.

KYB struts are stock replacement. you just going to repalce stock for stock.
the problem is your springs. they are too stiff.
I had Intrax springs with stock struts. it was OK. If i would have gone with Tokico struts it would have been awesome.

in your case, get rid of springs and return the struts, get softer springs and better struts.
if you decide to stay with dropzone springs, you may as well invest into revalved Bilstein struts. they will revalve them according to your spring stiffness.
I think you should ditch the springs and go with softer springs and firmer struts.

I've yet to see a 3G with GR-2's on them stock, so I'm not sure where you are getting that idea. They are definitley better than stock, though obviously not as good as your Bilsteins or Konis. Not sure how much money this guy wants to spend, or just how much performance his car has, but for a decent price and very good results, the GR-2s are a good choice. Yes, his springs sound like the problem though, and some better springs would be recommended with those KYBs.
Rendon, what exactly are you planning to do with this car? If you are looking for just some better street handling, just get some better springs for what you already have. If you are setting it up for some serious cornering though, then yes, maybe you should consider a complete redo.

I had bulstien struts with Tenzo R coil-overs i have droped my car 4" and it rides great corners great to it is bounce though but any time you put lowering springs or coil-over on you are going to have a bouncy ride

you droped your car 4"? i call it :bs:
if you drop your car 4" it would be sitting on the bottom with very little ground clearance. on the top of that you would have masive camber problem that couln't be corrected with anything.
i want to see some pictures.

better than stock doesnt necessary mean it is higher performance than stock. you are comparing a brand new stock replacement with a 15year old strut of course the brand new stock part will be better. If you compare a new stock strut to a gr2 then you have a comparision.

I've tried the GR2, Tokico blues and the Konis themselves. I can tell you the GR2 is the stock replacement of them all. I rode on GR2 when I was stock and it sure as hell felt stock. Konis had a stiffer ride but in sacrafice for performance even on stock springs. if you put the GR2, Blues, and the Konis in a scale from softest to stiffest. The GR2 would come first then foloowed by the blue closely behind then significantly later the Konis.


It's amazing that you are willing to sugest that GR2 is a good replacement for dropzone spings. He will still get that floaty ride he got from the stock struts regardless. Even the Tokicos shouldn't be able to handle it but it is the next best option if he doesnt want to spend over 600+ for bilstiens or find the rare konis.

Well I bought them on Ebay So i wouldnt be able to return them so im fucked. I could but it would cost me to send em back. I am prolly gonna get a pair of different springs. Yes i want a susrious suspension redo. My friends leave me behind sometime cuz they dont bounce and the cornes im ight at. But Sick of the ride i have now. So how much would H&R springs run for. Those springs are nice. OR anyone welling to Sell me some good springs for cheap. USED. And i even give u my dropzones and money. help me out crew

You learned a hard lesson. Maybe if you put the dropzones back on ebay, some fool will buy them, because they are cheap.

When did I suggest that GR2s are a good replacement for dropzone springs? I said he should keep the GR2 struts and replace the dropzone springs with better ones. That is what I'm running with Tokico springs all around, and it is a nice combination. Where are we getting confused here? :dunno: Sounds to me like we are all in agreement that he needs better springs. sorry kind of got caught off guard. I'm running Tokico springs also but I am not satisfied with the bounce it makes with the tokico blues which are stiffer than the GR2s. I've been learning how to drive my car to the limit so I figure that has to do with my preference of having a stiffer car.

I'm REALLY curious the difference between your GR2 Tokico setup vs my Tokico Tokico setup. I want to see HOW much of a difference it really is. I know there is a difference but I wonder by how much and is it actually worth the extra cash I paid.

what spring would give me the drop i want. I hate the fact that the front is higher then the back. If i would keep the springs i would have to cut a link off but i dont know if it would affect the spring rate at all and if it would make it stiffer, bouncyer, Should i get a coilovers.IDK. IM stuck once again. I know the GR-2s are pretty good my friend with his cavy running thoes with eibach and its a firm ride. But other then that back to what i was saying would cutting a link off the dropzone springs in front make a difference on how the car handles?

NEVER EVER CUT SPRINGS! You cannot cut springs the same exact length on both sides. It is obvious you want to slamm the accord and the only way is to have some coilovers. The softer coilvoers are Ground Controls which need Konis or better to handle the stiffness. You might want to reconsider what you are doing and figure if it is worth it to redo your suspension to such a low drop.

Not slam just no gap showing like the back. I dont get why dropzone made springs that has the front higher and the back lower. DUM.

The wheel arches are of different lengths. Even if you get an even drop, it will look like the front is higher because the arches are higher.

Dude.......KONI'S are NOT manufactured for our cars anymore, PERIOD. So whatever website you got those prices from is not correct.
If you want to get Koni's, you will need to find them used, and pay out the ass for them.
I would gladly pay $435 for a set of Koni's.
Hell, I paid $250 just for my front Koni's.

We have this really neat function..........it's called the SEARCH feature. It is in the upper right hand corner of the page. If you search Bilsteins you can read up on them and see if they are right for your application.
