So, i may be another civic owner..

Yeah.. Its true. I'm going to have to get rid of my 3gee.

Not sure if many of you were following any of my problem threads.. But the car was supposed to be fixed (stupid carburetor), but as soon as i got the car back i now notice a rather large rattle in the motor. Almost like a pinging, but it sounds more like a slight knock thats just progressively gotten worse since i got the car back from the shop. Not to mention, now i'm having MORE problems with my carburetor and the cars idle.. I havent even had the car a week. And i havent been driving it hard.

I really dont want to get rid of it. I love my car, but unfortunately i'm out of a job at the moment and cant afford to have it breakdown on me anymore. Even when i do get a job i dont want to have to worry about it breaking down on me and seeing alot more hard-earned money going into her just to keep her running.

So i came across an opportunity to get a new(er) car. It's a 1998 Honda Civic DX Hatchback.
EDIT: It's actually a 92 civic. Some information got screwed up along the way of reaching my ear. lol

I don't know if i'm going to get it yet, so bear with me.. But chances are if the deal is set and if i like the car, i'm going to be saying bye bye to my first car. :thumbdn: :crying: :crying: :madflip: :madflip:

I'll still be around on 3geez and i plan to keep going to socal meets even without my 3g.

Ewww. Your LX has more power options. I had an EK hatchback. No power options are even available from the factory, the motor isn't much stronger than a carbed A20.

Atleast get an EX.

well that sucks....most of the 3gee owners are geting civics....anyways are you going to sell the whole car or are you going to part it out?

I'm going to give the car to my friend that works at honda and he's going to sell it and purchase the other car and i'll pay him back whatevers left over in payments after i get a job.

And yes, the DX has no power options whatsoever, but that means it will be very light. It will most definitely be quicker, at least a little, than my LX because of the fact it has around 7 more hp, and is atleast 500lbs lighter.

Not to mention theres way more aftermarket support for the 98 civic motors than there is for the a20.

From the information i've gathered, the car has a d16y7 in it which puts down about 106hp/103tq stock.. And from swapping a jdm d15b head or another vtec d series head that b16killa was talking about with me the other day, i can easily get another 20/25hp or more at the wheels. 3 stage vtec anyone?

And then if i blow the motor in the civic i have WAY more options of engine swaps because of all the aftermarket kits available. Hence my decision. :]


Oh, and adrian, yes, i'm going to the meet. Don't worry. The cars going to be back in the shop until basically last minute before the meet but i'll be there. It'll probably be her last meet.

OH, and one last thing, i wont really be parting her out. I'm keeping the rims, selling the suspension to 1320boy (for a good deal.. bastard), and then the only thing i'll have left over is the cupholders and maroon armrest which are both in awesome shape and i'll make a thread about them later. Oh.. And i *do* have a civic box already cut and ready to be put on, but the hole cut in the bottom to make it sit around the carburetor is rather oblong and allows for bad vaccuum leak, so chances are i wont be selling it because its practically garbage now. :\

oh yeah and since it has a y7, make sure you put the y8 Intake manifold on it....

I still have my 3 gee , but I picked up a 94 civic dx for a decent deal, it sux compared to the accord. really it is stripped, hard to roll windows, no power accessories, I hope I can get this ex or whatever this other car is in the wreck yard that has all the power stuff and put it on the dx civic, otherwise Im selling it. As for power, I felt it had a good bit more power, but have no way of driving both of them ,, derrr.
i will say this, they make a hella lot more goodies for the civics, but it would be a challange to be unique.

And it shouldnt be too big of a deal to not have any power options on the civic. As far as making the car unique.. Well, i'm sure as hell going to try to make it unique. Though with what i want to do to it, it will probably end up looking like a wannabe spoon civic or something. Bah.

huh, my dx has no options, its like sevantys , I am looking into getting a a ex I think it is , the interior looks a lot like my accord lx

Yeah, i'm definitely keeping the sohc.. i plan to do a y8 intake manifold, vtec head, and i/h/e.. Though i'll probably do suspension before i go performance.

I'm still not sure if i'm getting the car though. I've yet to take a look at it, but i'm taking a look at it on friday. Though it should be in really good shape considering it was owned by a honda tech and is 100% stock.. Which would be why i'm considering getting it without even looking at it. Haha.. But i'm not jumping to conclusions.

And if my car cant get fixed theres no way i'm NOT going to get the civic. :\

oh yea, me see's it now. too much aftermarket and swaps and parts available , options.. ok. The dx would true, be a good one to fix up for racing since it is light on luxurys, The ridiculous things dont even have tachs. there really is not much to the car.

So it turns out the civic isnt actually a 98... It's a 92. So its a white 92 EG hatch with either the 70hp motor or the 103hp motor.. Both non-vtec.

Same plans apply, pretty much. Other than the y8 manifold probably.

I'm still planning on taking a look at the car and test driving it and whatnot before i commit to getting it.

Oh, does anyone want the maroon armrest in my accord? Send me offers via pm and i'll consider them as soon as i decide if i'm selling or not.

So after driving the civic today, i'm sold. The car runs so well and im in love with how comfortable it is.

I'll be swapping out my suspension on sunday with 1320boy who's giving me an okay offer on them.. And then the stock wheels go on, cup holders and arm rest come out, as well as the stereo equipment and fog lights... Then she'll look like an old grandmas car once again.

I'm going to stick here on 3geez and post.. And i'm still going to all the socal meets.. Just not in my accord.

I plan to get another accord one day, maybe 6 months or so from now, and its going to be a track car. I'm not 100%, but i'm sure going to try.

I'm going to miss my ol' 3gee.. :'(

Aww man. EG hatches are the worst. You might be able to get a coupe, if you look around.
