Major trouble with cv axle
Hi guys first time poster here.I have a 1988 accord lxi the driver side cv axle went out so I went to replace it and ordered what rock auto,AutoZone,eBay motors all said was the correct one I get it home took apart and go to put the new one in and it doesn’t fit the inbound and outbound spline are roughly a 1/4 inch to big for the holes I have right now so I’ve done some research and the axle for a 85 accord looks really close but before I order another one and get the wrong one again I figured I’d come here and see what everyone thought thanks in advance
Re: Major trouble with cv axle
Its possible you got one mixed up in a different box.
There are two different sizes for the drivers side. One for the automatic transmission and one for the manual transmission, ones longer than the other. I would get one at your local auto parts store. Bring in the old one to make sure it matches before purchasing. Plus these remanufactured CV axles are junk and you'll have a much easier time swapping it out next time under warranty at the local auto store than you would online somewhere.
