Re: 2gee eBay and Craigslist Finds
The ad is long gone, but I picked up this '85 Accord off Craigslist for $150 in Sept. of last year. It was originally listed at $500, and over the course of a couple of months it was gradually reduced to $250. I called the guy up on a saturday morning and he said the junk man was coming to haul it off for scrap that afternoon, so if I wanted I better come right now. So I hauled ass up to Cleveland, GA. Talked to him for a while, turns out his father had bought the car brand new in 1985, and sold it to him in 2001 when he was in college. The car had 300,000 miles on it at that point. He put 86,000 more miles on it from 2001-2008.
Asked him what his bottom dollar was, he said $150. Tossed him 50 bucks to hold it over night, came back the next day with my brother and drove it home with title in hand.

(had to pull the cluster since most of the bulbs were burned out in it, couldn't see how much gas or how fast you were going at night)

Being a GA car since new, it had absolutely no rust, and the body was in great shape aside from a few small dings. Did some basic maintenance on it, put 2,000 miles on it driving it back and forth to work (the car paid for itself vs. driving my '72 Ford Maverick), then turned around and sold it to in December last year to my cousin who is in college and just needed cheap transportation for $300 (with the stipulation that if she has any problems with it, or decides to get rid of it, that I'm the first person she talks to about it). The car paid for itself in gas savings while I had it and I profited when I sold it. Can't beat it. My cousin is still driving the car, it is her only transportation. Probably getting close to 400,000 by now. Haven't talked to her in a month or two, need to call her and see how it's going. I actually kind of miss the car now that I think about it, and I only drove it for a three months... wasn't much to look at, but hey, it had character. LOL Can't wait to get my '88 Hatch on the road.

Cool! Man nearly 400k miles that's pretty damn impressive! Score that you bought it for so cheap. Probably has another 100k left in it at least! Did you have fun with those gauges, and the speedo cable? :D

Well, the guy I bought it off of claimed that the engine had been replaced and only had like 180,000 on it, so if that was true I would say it should easily go to 500k. The car did have kind of a rough and surging idle, but it ran down highway great, 70-75 mph all day long smooth as can be and didn't burn any oil. A/C and cruise control even still worked. That cluster was just all kinds of fun. :ugh: I messed up the speedometer cable while trying to get it out, had to go to the Pull-A-Part and get another one. But after quite a few choice words and several hours of screwing around with it, I managed to get it all back together and the car had some nice bright dash lights again for the first time in who knows when.

How bad do I want this thing? Fucking PERFECT candidate for A20 Turbo. Black interior. Red paint job. Base, DX model. Hmmmmm.... All it would need is new seats, that ugly trim removed, and then all focus to the MegaSquirt / Turbo conversion... Oh man!

1977 Honda Accord * Newer Engine * - $1000 (Burien)

This 1977 Honda Accord has a 1980 "1800 cc" engine and is a nice little collector's car. It is gold and has new tires. It is a 5 speed . The body is totally straight and the paint still has a good luster. The interior is red and the seats are in fine shape, as is the rest of the interior. Has AM/FM/CD with removable face plate. This is a hatchback model with fold down rear seat.
This is a CVCC model (don't see many of those anymore) but this one is in very nice shape. I even have collector plates on it, so you don't ever have to buy tabs again.
Please call after 12 PM (noon) at 206-243-7324.

I have a 1983 Honda Accord Hatchback. The car is in overall great condition. It is a five speed manual, mated to a 1.8 liter four cylinder. It is also carberated. its the original motor and tranny and the car has 220,003 miles on it and still runs good. I am the third owner and i bought it from a co-worker. We work at a local mechanics shop and have kept this vehicle in the best condition possible. We did replace the carberator because it had a runability issue, the new carb helped alot but it still every once and a while it sputters, it never dies, it just sputters, if you shift up or down it goes away. i have talked to many honda technicians and they cant tell me what it is, they said just shift up or down and live with it. I ended up getting a newer car thats fuel injected and dont need this one any more. i currently have four vehicles and of all four my 97 F-250 and this 1983 honda accord are the only ones that i never question wether they will start or if i can drive it any where. This vehicle has NEVER left me stranded, it still gets almost forty miles to the gallon as well. its a great cheap commuter. Call or text anytime. 1-360-623-4113. Thanks PRICE IS NEGOTIABLE.

I just found this 85 for $1000. I'm shocked it seems in pretty good condition too besides the not working reverse. Wish I had the cash to buy this and a 3g.

Check this out, digital dash:

Make sure to ask for the surrounding dash cover and any associated parts.

And pretty much anybody who is going to get access to the parts to make a digi dash work is going to have a full dash and harness and everything.
