Huh, i need to pay attention to that when I get my coilovers installed.
Shoot me a message if I can help you with the rust repairing.

Finally got started on some fun things for the aerodeck!
I ordered some things from rockauto and I bought a new set of floor mats. The car has had these blue, universal mats since forever and didn't fit right. The new ones made the interior feel super nice.

Replaced the old cracked tail light. Super satisfying.
Old on top, new on the bottom

*Sigh*

Thats better

Also, my gf has named the car "Coi", you can see why. While very cute, i don't like the look of that destoyed decal.
This charamel wheel worked great! Just make sure to keep moving it around, you don't want to get it to hot (apparently)

Decent. I have a new decal ready but I need to repaint the rear end first. The paint is shot and there are a few rust bubbles i need to get rid of before.
Attachment 10752
And I replaced the rear speakers (old on the left, new on the right). It didn't make as much of a difference as I hoped for. I'm guessing they dont sound as good as they could because they dont have a decent box to sit in. The front ones sound pretty good, but they have the entire door for a box. I think i'm going to try to fit the 6,5" in the doors to see if that does anything.
I hope that the amp i have will make the sound a bit better. From what i have heard it's a big improvement. And I have some old random little subwoofer i think i'm gonna throw in aswell.

In my opinion you need a nice condition "COI" decal. Cool stuff!
If I ever get around to doing some body work on my Accord, which it needs as much as yours but I'm less capable, I want to make a badge that says "LeXi" and name it that.
Man thats one good looking car but it's a bit high, innit?
Attachment 10766
Perhaps I should put these pretty things on :D
Attachment 10767
I'll make a separate post going more in deapth about the coilovers and installing them.
We are jumping straight to the resault this time

That look a ton better. And it feels alot more solid that stock. Everytime you turned you would lay the car on its doorhandles but thats very reduced. Obviously I can't blast over speed bumps like I could before with the stock suspension, but that is what to expect with coils.
While I was in there i replaced the sway bar end bushings. They were looking less than good.
Attachment 10769
This one was so rusty it snapped when I was removing it :hsugh:
Attachment 10770
And the new and shiny :)

The next big thing will be rebuilding all the brakes. They feel pretty soft and the handbrake is sticking. I have all the parts on their way and they should be here in a week or two.
I am expecting a review of those YSR coilovers lol
I had my good camera with me so I took a photo. You get an idea how much I lowered the car. And it can go a bit higher and much lower.

Looking good!
Do the yellowspeed coilovers are directly fit. Did you have to change or convert your upper control arm? Or it fits good with stock upper control arm?
Thanks
Do you mean the prelude front arms? Of course they will fit, there is nothing interfering, but without something like that you have no camber adjustment.
I searched on internet for prelude upper arms. I Didn't find... Do you know a website that sells upper arms? I wanna buy yellowspeed for my 89' accord, but if I have to convert my front upper arms with prelude, I didn't find anywhere :/ thanks
Hi guys, how you doing! I'm just going to give y'all a small update.
Not much is going on with Coi right now. I'm giving my '67 volvo amazon some well needed love (and new door bottoms) this winter so the Aerodeck is resting. We had some really cold days (like -17c) and i was thinking of driving it when the roads were nice and dry, but it got warmer and now it's all a wet, salty mess (like ur mum).
The car needs to get an inspection next summer so I need to rebuild the brakes before that. I have bought new pads, discs and hoses, as all of them are shot on my car and i need to figure out why the handbrake sticks like a bitch as soon as you look at it. I guess i have to fix the leaky exhaust aswell.
A bit snowy don't you think?

Thats better.

And since it been a while since we last spoke, here are some summer pictures

Does the aerodeck have 4 wheel disks?
I want ABS!

I'm sure abs from 1986 is about as awful as it sounds
Garage update!
We put up some led lights in my dads garage and had to move a big banner. Fortunately i now have my own garage to hang it in :naughty:
Quite fitting isn't it (not in my garage yet, obviously)

In my first post I mentioned i wanted some yellow fog lights, later i showed some driving lights i got on an auction site but I wasn't really too fond of them. What I really wanted was something like Cibie or S.E.V. Marchal but they were all too expensive or unobtainable. So imagine my shock when I find a set of Cibie Iode 35 for 300 swedish Crowns (like 30 usd) at a swap meet!
While they are a bit rough, they were definitely worth the money (on ebay one light costs like 90 usd).

I took them apart and gave them a much needed bath. I just used warm water, dish soap and some steel wool and scrubbed them gently. One reflector is pretty rusty. I think i'll sandblast the worst areas of it and painting it in some sort of "chrome" spray paint or maybe glue aluminium foil to it.

While they didn't come out perfect they are ALOT better than before and they will get better after a little polishing. Sadly there is a little rust that didn't go away. I will have to sand it a little and put some paint on those spots so it doesn't get worse.

WINTER TIRES!!
While I really don't want to drive the Aerodeck in the snow i don't have many options right now. My girlfirends Subaru Legacy started misfiring again so it's time to finally give it some attention. She borrowed my v60 so if I don't want to walk to work, the accord has to come out for winter duty.
It is actually pretty good in the snow! With some decent studded tires it handles the snow like any other car AND thanks to being lowered it dubbles as a snow plow!:D
Attachment 11032
Nice find on the fog lights! Be careful in the snow.

How's your inspection? Done?
OG 3G member here...and its been a while since I've posted...
Just want to say, this thread feels like what I would post ~20 years ago. Its rare to get an opportunity to get grandpa's old car, and I think your grandpa would be proud. Keep it coming man, and love where you're taking your aerodeck. Keep it true and do things right.
Hold onto that car. I, like some others, dream to have an aerodeck some day and the numbers of these cars are quickly dwindling as they age.
