Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
.05 what? 0.05mm? if it is, ur displacement is still only 2L ( 1959cc) if its 0.05in ur still considered 2.0L (2017cc)
Equation for displacement: 1) Pi *D^2*Stroke also normal equation is 2) pi*R^2*stroke*4
D = Bore (Diameter)
R = Radius (2R = D)
4 = #of Cylinders
Stroke = 91.0mm (stock)
Bore = 82.70mm (Stock)

It's still gonna kick ass...lol

Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
Make sure you get proper end gap & space the rings accordingly. Double check & plastiguage your rod & main bearings to make sure there in specs before you install everything. I allways have the crank turned & balanced & line bore the block if needed when rebuilding engines. Have your block Manufluxed for cracks too. If your using the same rods, have them reconditioned & fluxed. Just a few pointers. Your shit is looking tight bro, keep up the good work.
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
I don't mean to be a dick bro... But I work at a machine shop... The block has been mag'd and decked... I'm gonna pesonally do the 5 angle valve job on the seats... After I finish the port n polish on the head... I was considering polishin the rods before I balanced them too... I already got a remanned crank cause my first one was to far gone... They only make a bearing thats +.020... So heavy line boring and crank work is not good... I know b series ls bearings fit n I haven't checked on how big they get But I dont wanna but big ass bearings in anywayz... I was considering polishing the counter weights on the crank... But I'm not gonna do that on this engine... I will on the turbo engine though...
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
I know your not being a dick & I know you work at a machine shop. I work on cars. Anyway, what I was getting to, is that you have to keep everything in specs for bearings. Sounds like your re-manufactured crank is going to bring everything up to specs from what I'm reading.

Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
Oh I got a question... No one has said anything, But is it getting ricey?
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
as long as its not flashing leds everywhere, or neon, i say who cares? it looks awesome. Rice is in the eye of the beholder, heh
But seriously, its brutal, i dont see rice.
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
wheres the rice at?? i dont see anything ricey about that, keep up the good work

How is it not? I mean, it's a honda right?
LOL, anyway, looks like your finished product is gonna be pretty bad ass.... good luck on the rebuild.
I'm jealous you have the time and resources to do that.... i'd personally love to have the tools/time/money to do anything of that sort.

-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
lol looking good man...
i gotta be honest im not liking the blue, but i cant say anything, cause i have ricey blue in my engine bay as well.
but i will say one thing. its ALLLL about the .050 bore! :D hehe
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
oh yeah... Matter of fact....
I'm gonna bore the block tomorrow...
Hopefully I'll have time to balance my rods, pistons n crank tomorrow too...
The only issue is that the rings haven't come in yet...
Also I have a whole color scheme goin on here...
The car was originally gonna be just black and white...
But then I decided to incorporate my team (Unit S) color which is the blue...
N The reason for the aluminum is because white wouldn't be good in the engine bay IMO, and black holds heat...
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
A little bit. Use more metal colored paint for a less rice more mature look.
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
Damn Rings still haven't shown up...
Plus I didn't get to boring my block today.. I did deck it though... n put SS freeze plugs in...
I had a big ass Cat head I had to finish today so I didn't get time on my block... BOO...
But I'm borin tomorrow...

Update: Engine: Jan032006
Well I still haven't got any work done on the bottem end... Reason being...
I'm a Dumb-Ass
I didnt pressure test my head before I started workin on it... I got about 12hrs on the port job and found 2 cracks...
Luckily I had the head from the second engine.. I took that to work and PT'd it before I cleand it.. Then after I cleaned it... N I'm gonna do it again when the p+p is done... Here is my progress so far...

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...b/f0bfb555.jpg
I just need to finsih the last 2 dish's n do some touch up sanding in the ports... Then hit it with the polishing ball...
-
Update: Body: Jan032006
I haven't done much work on the body because of the incident with the head...
However... I did finish some suspension work and some other stuff in the engine bay.. And I must apoligize... It happened completly accidentallly... but my spindle/brake area got a little ricey...
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...9/f0bfb648.jpg

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/f0bfb5c9.jpg
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...c/f0bfb5a2.jpg
I think it's because of the rotor/bearing/lug nut combination of colors... the rest don't look to bad to me... I'm gonna have new rotors and lug nuts when i put the rims on... N i won't paint either of them again... The only reason I did it on these rotors is cause they were rusted as shit from just sittin in the weather... N i just left the lug nutz on the spindle when I painted it...
-
Update: overall Jan032006
Well I ordered my Remaned Manual Rack the other day and that set me back 236.xx... So projected driving date has been pushed back... prolly mid to late feb...
My wife got me a lightened flywheel for xmas n it just got here last week...
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...e/f0bfb4f6.jpg
I need to order my clutch and cam... and some other random poly-bushings I haven't got yet... Put it all together n thats that...
I'm going to do the obd-1 swap n itbs after I get it runnin and moving.... I want to break the engine in before I do either... Cause I know I'll be drivin the piss outta it when there on...
Quote:
Are you going with stock valves, or are you considering going a lil' larger?
No... I'm using stock vavles with a 5 angle valve job... I'm doin a lil somethin somethin for the springs though... I'm gonna test a couple different Ideas and some other springs I have around the shop n see what i can come up with...
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
yo what did you end up doing for manual steering? i want to convert to manual as well. gotta get rid of that stupid ass pump and lines heh. :)
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
i'm gettin a regrind.. i'm only gonna bump up the springs by like 10lbs or so...

It's lookin good Jigga. Nice paint..I'm putting in my engine right now. Should be ready to roll by this weekend...I'll have some pics soon
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
Thank u...
But I"m so pissed right now... My rack came in today a day early.. yay...
But it's a PS rack... Then I look at the recipt and see that the guy at auto zone ordered a ps rack so then i was hot... I went back up there and talk to this chick at the counter( who was kinda cute) and extremely nice, although not to bright (ok she made a few funny mistakes)... But anyway we looked it up on the cp n she went to the same screen the first guy did for manual rack n the part# match the one I had... So we check the ps # n it was the same one... so I was like WTF...
So I ended up ordering a salvaged manual rack through their partner company and left the store feelin a little sketchy, but got some money back so that was a bonus...
I typed the above before dinner
Then...
After I ate dinner, the phone rang... It ended up bein autozone's partner company... They called to verify the part and shipping address... I told the guy how I felt a little sketchy n he said all parts were quality checked n warranteed... So I was like hell yeah...
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
I'm lookin for a Manual rack too. How much did it cost ya..Hoping to get one the next time i get paid
-

Wow, motor looks great.. not a fan of all the blue, but sounds like it should be a nice motor.
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
To tell u the truth I'm not either (a fan of "all" the blue)... But I started with it n I gotta make the scheme look "good", cause I'm too far into it to change it...
The paint Job is gonna be A black n white scheme along with the interior... The interior will have a few blue accents.. But I'm going to be sure not to over do that too...
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
Nice work there, I agree on the port texture, but it's more critical in the manifold with carbs. on EFI the fuel is intected right at the ports so even if it sticks it wont be that bad.

-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
dude that motor build looks killer. I can't wait to see the HP numbers from this.
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
Yes the engine is done... I gotta finish the manifolds before I fire it up though... The Rad. is stock not sure what brand.. The coolant lines are heavy duty marine hoses, I should never have to replace them... The don't bend so I used copper elbows to gettem where they needed to go...
N thanks for the congrats.. We're actually already married.. But most of her family don't know yet so we're havin a big wedding this summer... Our 1 yr annv. is on the 8th of this month...
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
that looks sweet. so did you cut all the coolant lines since they don't bend?
-
Re: Jigabu's Engine Rebuild/Restoration Thread...
wow it's been six months since I posted on this thread... To all of you who are keepin tabs... I'm still workin on my baby... I started it last weekend... I'm doin the interior now n I'll finish the body after that...
With all the head work I did.. n that triflow cam the intake sounds beast I can't wait to put the itb's on... anywayz... I'll post vid of it running a little later...

Interior Update
So heres a qucik update on my progress... I've still failed to touch the body... But the interior is comin along nicely... I was tryin to do some things Ive never seen before and so far it's successful... Now I did say I've never seen some of these ideas before, not that no one else has done them... I am however hoping Im pioneering these ideas... So enough with the chit-chat here's some eye candy

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...4/ec3012ed.jpg
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...2/ec30130a.jpg
That is a real wood floor... I'm trimmin out the rest today... The carpet is not preformed the only way I'm making it work with minimal wrinkles is because I'm cutting so much out of it... The seat is my old driverseat (which is a crx si seat) recovered in black and blue specked tweed by yours truley... The subbox will be mirrored on the other side and both covered in black tweed and padding...
I didn't want to get rid of the back seat totally so that I have somewhere for my dog to ride with the wife and I, and for a babyseat one day... I have already made a slogan for the seat..."if you can fit you can sit".. It would not comfortably accomedate someone my size for a ride across town...
K thats it for now... Alot more to go... But I'll GIT R DUN
-
Interior Update 2.0
So slowly it's all falling together... Unfortunately it's been to cold to do any glass work so I've been pushing on with the interior... The trunk is done, aside from the nitrous bottle, hose and wire installation... I just gotta finish trimming out the driverside floor board and recover the driver seat and the bottome part of the passenger seat and install them... And make the custom door panels, cover and install... So heres some eyecandy...

You cant start the car without the main relay it's what makes the fuel pump work. I dont understand what a flat head would fix. Sorry to thread jack
