Re: buying speakers, need advice
go with some infinity reference series 6 1/2's. they're really easy to find on ebay for under 25 bucks. they're 99 new if they're just 2 way's but if they're components they're 199 new. ive found them on there for 60 bucks tops :)

Re: buying speakers, need advice
go with a panasonic cq-c7301u deck its about 2 years old and has some of the best features and goes for about 120 shipped for a new one on ebay also i agree with monkey on the infinity but if there out of your price range try some polk db series
-
Re: buying speakers, need advice
I find the infinities can be too tinny sounding if you're not running a sub because they have such high sensitivity. they're excellent speakers if you're going to round out the system with some bass.
I have alpine 6.5's all around, 1 eclipse 12" sub powered by a concept amp. I picked up a cheap sony HU with sub out, mp3, and front & rear aux inputs... so far been very happy with it. I've had too many alpine decks take a shit on me.
-
Re: buying speakers, need advice
it all depends on your price range....you can get alpine type x speakers but with out the right deck or amp they would not sound good....i just say stick with name brand stuff.
-
Re: buying speakers, need advice
i have pioneer speakers, but i agree that infinitys would sound better
for the sub alpine makes some good ones, but saty away from pioneer and bazooka
for a deck i would recomend an alpine, im gonna get one shortly becasue my insignia deck sucks
also, stay away from sony!
but thats just my opinon, good luck!

Re: buying speakers, need advice
haven't decided yet
i don't need to have a motorized face plate but it has to be removable....it doesn't have to have a remote...i would like an auxulary jack so i can plug in an iPod or other mp3 player...has to play mp3/wma/burned cd's i don't care if it plays audio dvd's
basicly here is what i want
1.) detachable face plate
2.) ability to drive 4 6.5" speakers without an amp
3.) subwoofer hookup
4.) mp3/wma/burned cd playback
would like but doesn't have to have
1.) auxualry (sp) jack
2.) remote
3.) motorized face plate
4.) color display
5.) customizeable display
i will have about $200 to spend on the deck...obviously i want to spend as little as possible but hey you get what you pay for right?
should i get a mono, 2, or multi channel amp?
