Turbo build, engine pics
Well there you go what do you guys think, i don't have any other pics of the inside because i didn't figure them necessary because its all just stock bottom end( the head is too, with the exception of polished exhast ports..) The bottom end just has .020 over piston, polished crank...etc..etc. The mani if you didn't know i got from 3geez about 4 months ago, the turbo is just a Chrysler/Dodge turbo(48/42 A/R) I hate the intake housing on the turbo but it will do for now... and my nicely painted red valve cover, it kinda looks orange because of the light though.. Well I have alot more work to do on this thing still before it goes in but what do you guys think so far...?

Re: Turbo build, engine pics
i like it, cant wait to see numbers rollin in
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Looks good, But I see the dreaded red dust in the distributor. Makes me want to put my turbo stuff on.
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
that looks sweet dude!!! i cant wait till you finish this and actually show up to one of our meets ;)
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
DO you have any internal pics? Looks good so far and the two things i am concerned about is the Turbo to Radiator clearance and the fuel. Seems like you got the stock regulator on. U plan on running additional injectors or something? and yeah that distributor has to go. Lol looks worse than mine. A little info about the head and the cam would be appriciated.
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
yeah does not look bad at all. im going to start rebuilding my engine after i get another car to stick it in
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Ok well the distributor is dirty inside yes but what is wrong with that, once the cap is on you'll never see it.. also i didn't take pics of internals, like i said i didn't see any point because it is all just new stock parts... sorry but i'm not a big picture taker. As for injectors and fuel regulator i am most likely going to use dsm injectors(blue tops).. and maybe a B&M reg. The head i just took a cylinred read repair and rebuilding class in college and reabuilt it... I did a complete valve job(3 angle) and polished the exhaust side for flow. other than that i just R&R'd the head. I only plan on running 7-10 psi on thins motor so i don't think i'll need much more than what i already explained on this engine.. How does all this sound...?

Re: Turbo build, engine pics
eh, i'll just grab like another one from the junk yard no biggie...new ones are like $250 or somthing right?
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
between 400-500.. i just picked one up at the junkyard for $25. :D it was a reman too, and so new it was clean and had a warranty sticker on it!
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
10psi is doable on stock internals no prob, so if you just wanna go oversize stock cast pistons they should hold.
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
That's about what i planned maybe even less(7-10)... I think i should be around 175 Hp depending on the boost and stuff... I believe that Elijah did those numbers with this mani, slightly larger injectors and FPR... We shall see.
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Ok just so i get all around info, people at prelude power asked me about my vaccum dizzy and boost. How will that all work out, i just figure not using the vaccum advance will solve any problems. What dop you boosted accords do?
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
your best bet is using something along the lines of an MSD BTM. it will pull ignition timing a certain amount (that you set on a dial) per pound of boost in the system. its a cheap easy way to pull timing. :)
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
You can also implement stepped timing retard with an OBD1 conversion and Crome. I believe that TurboEdit will also do it with OBD0 Civic and Teg ECUs.
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Thanks for the info, I will figure out something to do... The MSD seem like the first thing i will try. And upgrade from there..
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Nice mani, looks like the ones Sean was building. Yea I will be curious if the wastegate hits the rad, or just run a civic rad. ;)
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
plans are for the stock one working so says seamn and elijah(on an accord) But i wouldn't mind a civic radiator meakes engine compartment look bigger with more room...
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
yeah justin i think that was the manifold that sean built for elijah long ago. :)
im thinking of putting a civic radiator on the DRIVERS side of the front bumper, and running one of those manifolds that moves the turbo over to the passenger side. :) would be bitching.... ill find a pic...

Re: Turbo build, engine pics
i think elijah built that himself didnt he? sean was making those shorty 4-1 stainless manifolds for dodge T3s
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Well this mani was stainless but it had lots off burns and finger prints in it so i painted it...But yeah it is made for the dodge T3 with the weird flange... And as for access to spark plug its really easy now we shall see once it is in the car.

Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Well, I'm impressed! Good job!
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
Looks nice. Let us know how the turbo w/wastage & radiator fit. Going with inter-cooler too?
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
My plans are to fabricate a top mount intercooler with some kind of hood scoop. But i may have to go with a fron mount... I want to keep low profile from attracting any unwanted attention, because i live in So Cal the cops are asses around here when it comes to modified cars..
-
Re: Turbo build, engine pics
go with a front mount and paint it flat black, a ricer hood scoop (even functional) and big enough to actually work is REALLY gonna draw attention.
