1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
Hey guys. I've been wandering around this forum for a few weeks for advice and parts, finally decided to become a member and put some pics of the car up. I got the car about 7 months ago and I've done a few things like spark plugs and regular maintenance. This is my first car but I can't help but fall in love with the flip up headlights and 5 speed manual transmission. Prior to this car I've only ever driven automatic cars, so this was the car I learned to drive manual in and eventually bought :) I am planning on buying some new tires this week and replacing my clutch next week. My clutch has been slipping for quite a while now and I've adjusted the clutch a few times but I think its just time for a new one (Exedy OEM spec clutch). If you guys have any tips on replacing it please let me know. I've heard it is possible to replace the clutch without removing the sub-frame which is how I plan to do it, still nervous about it because it is my only car. Other than that, I'm just trying to get my hands on a welder so I can get to working on making a less restrictive (hopefully not awful sounding) exhaust. I plan on getting a Weapon-R intake in soon as well. I have some really big expensive projects in mind for the car so hopefully once the car is in better condition I can get a new daily and work on swapping the engine for an LSVTEC motor. But anyway, here is the car!

Looks very nice. I like the historic plate.
Welcome to the forum.
I have taken the transmission off a couple of times. It is easier out of the car if you have an engine lift. But the time I did it in the car wasn't that bad. I did not take the subframe out. I removed the radius rod on the passenger side, slid it out onto the ground. I did have a rope around the transmission tied to my ceiling rafters in my garage or you can have a 2x4 board laying across the engine compartment to make it easier lowering it and putting it back on.

Welcome don't waste the money on the weapon Type R intake. It's easy to modify a Honda Civic one
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
Thanks for the info, my parts should all be coming in this week, I plan on replacing the pilot bearing and flywheel as well as the clutch and pressure plate. I'll definitely heed your advice, the less things I have to do, the less likely I am to break something!
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
Thanks for the advice, I've also heard you can modify a Civic exhaust as well. I'll have to look more into it though, thanks.
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
Forgive my ignorance, but didn't the 3g come with a CAI from the factory?
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
As far as I know, they do not. My accord certainly doesn't have one. Unless I have no idea what I'm talking about, which is entirely possible.
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
It's got a tube going from the air box to the front corner of the car. I always assumed that's what a CAI is. Someone here told me once that the factory air intake is miniscule and that you could drill it out to improve performance. I like getting 30 MPG, so I never bothered with it myself.
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
Welcome!! Indeed, those flip up lights are how to easily fall in love with it ☺. I love the rear window louvers. Gives it that cool retro look! That's one clean 3gee you got! Take good care of it!

Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
When I got the car, it had about 135,000 miles on it. It was mostly garage kept and not really driven very often.
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
I'll have to see if I can find out more about drilling out the intake. My car only gets between 20-24 mpg but I think that's more because of my driving (oops).

You could always add a b16a intake manifold with a 68 mm throttle body

Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
Does this seriously work? Do you have anymore info / links?
Re: 1987 Honda Accord LX-i :)
I’ve only been able to find beat up cars or they don’t have them at all. And I’ve learned that the car is too old to buy performance parts. I can’t even get a few gaskets and seals I need for it but I absolutely love this car. Do you know any sites that maybe have anything fr this car. I was thinking about finding some accords and trying to match the suspension and struts and what not to order for those cars
