How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
Here are instructions on how to remove the stock radio out of our cars.

(*NOTE*) There are two common situations of headunit installation. Most common is the 1-Shaft which is pictured here:

Then there is a 2-Shaft installation

Hope this was helpful.

not to burst anyone's bubble but the pics are dead.
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
can someone get new pics up or reupload them?
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
Yeah please, I'm working on taking out the stock radio and your pics are gone...so please put them back or direct us to the right place...
thanks...
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
there are two screws behind the factory radio that need to be removed before sliding the radio out, you can reach back there with a stubby phillips screwdriver.
Here are two pics of the rear of the radio where the screw are at

Once you you slid the radio out just unplug the harness and antenna cable

Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
I take it this doesn't apply to the SE-i bose setup? Do I still need to remove the center console for mine?
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio

The Stereo should be mounted the same way as shown but I know it plugs into a small amp, which i know nothing about
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
the small amp should be mounted in the trunk under the rear deck at lest thats were it was mounted on the SEI coupe
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio

nope there not there.
just remove the 2 phillips screws on the back of the radio and it will pull right out.
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
Thanks for your reply Pico.
I was wondering if it was slightly more involved than that. My problem is, I can feel the screw on the drivers side, but can't seem to gain access to the screw on the passenger side, and I was hoping not to remove any other bits and pieces.
I'll try again, and if I never post again, you'll know my hand is stuck behind the dashboard https://www.3geez.com/forum/images/icons/icon12.gif
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
i find its easier to unbolt the little grey box to get more access to the back of the radio
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
stubby screw driver works the best as well
you can also use an 8mm socket i believe

Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
lol on one accord i was working on, some ass nut went and put a stupid aftermarket tape player in and put rivets where the screws would normally go
Re: How-To: Removing/Installing Stock Radio
Hey guys, new to the forum. Just got an 89 SEI and found out the stock wiring harness for the radio was thrown out when an aftermarket radio was put in :( Came here to ask if anyone new the color codes on the wires and found them on link posted by HostileJava. Found exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Does anyone know where i can get a replacement stock harness???? If anyone knows, hook me up.
